Rawsons Retreat Series $5.45 Each @ Dan Murphy's

70

I think DM is price beating Coles/Liquorland in this deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/236993

Tried the merlot, IMHO, quite drinkable. The lady at the counter said it can be drunk now, but I think it might do with a few years in the cellar.

You can stack this with 7% cashback from cashrewards and on top of that use 10% Big W giftcard to pay.

Hmm… looks interesting. My favourite type of wine.. cheap and good. Lol. Perfect to go with the Superman vs Batman Blu-ray when it comes out?

It should have aged well by then…

  • 10% Big W giftcard <— where do you get one of those?

  • Cab sav and semi sav blanc are quite reasonable!

I was pleasantly surprised when I was served those at a wedding.

      Was the VB warm ??

Hahaha. The first time I believe I've had the pleasure of a direct response from you jv!
FWIW I wasn't blown away, but they were pleasant quaffers with chicken/steak.

If you must know, the beers served were Little Creatures Pale Ale, Asahi & Corona/Sol…if there was in fact VB present, hopefully it was being used to pin-down the marquee.

That explains why they could only afford Rawsons Retreat..

        • @jv:

          Ha.

  • This stuff is nasty, simple at that. If you don't like spending much on wine, I suggest https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_99141/zonin-regions… for $6.65 - it goes well with food and doesn't have a nasty taste that this rawsons stuff has. Apparently Christopher Rawson Penfold used to bath in Bin 28 and then his bathwater was used to make Rawsons retreat.

    • My tongue cannot tell the difference. I have only tried the merlot and it taste like a merlot. A bit young but I cant really tell between this and a more expensive merlot. Will give your suggestion a try. Purely for comparison purposes of course. ;)

      • There was a time when I thought anything in a 2 litre cask was a bit special and bottled wine was for special occasions (Rawson's was a lot cheaper back then but I thought it was great).
