NZ Auckland Airport transfers

Agree. Unless you're just staying in Auckland CBD, you'll need a car to really get to any other place
Public transport mainly consists of busesThere is a shuttle bus to the city from the airport but it'll be about $40-50 for your whole family.
Renting a car is probably the way to go
we are there for 10 days but the first 3 we are in Auckland and then we pick up our hire car. most place we want to see in Auckland are close by so walking or bus. Save some $$ on a hire car.
Maybe go for an UBER?Does your hotel do airport shuttles? Otherwise catch the SkyBus?
Really depends where in Auckland you're going I guess
thanks looks like the sky bus will be the best option
Two adults and two kids (under 15) on the sky bus = $45 NZD. Maybe one Uber is cheaper?
This article may also shed some light on your options:

Edit: looking into it further it looks like CheapCabs might be the way to go with a $33 fixed fare…
Careful getting a airport bus. Sometimes if you have multiple passengers it can be more than a taxi.
Maybe look at getting the Airbus. Return tickets make it cheaper but given the number of people a shuttle could be better
what are you actually doing in NZ? every time I have been I have always hired a car (its the only way you can really get around NZ and do all the things you might want to do as a tourist). However I think there is a public bus service that runs between the airport and the CBD (goes through the southern suburbs though).
