  • Aren't these normally free ?

I keep getting calls every other week for someone to come and replace my halogen ones at no cost.

    • There is a scheme in Vic I believe that allows this however it is very restrictive on what you can replace and what it can be replaced with. The scheme is called VEET.
Here is some info on it if you want.

      • that is enlightening…

        Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET)

Who's the brilliant guy (has to be.. surely) who came up with that particular acronym.

        • Surely a MAMIL with smooooooooooth legs

    • I am pretty impressed with my free 6w led lights from hails.

  • +1

    Looks like a good price.

    Some benchmark info:

  • $18.50 Postage Killed The Deal For Me

    • How many were you ordering and what postcode were they going and I will double check that for you. Are they going regionally?

Oh and don't forget if the value is over $100.00 shipping is free

      • Ordering 4 going to Perth

        • Hey.
Yep Perth is always a problem as we are based in Brisbane, 4 downlights will weigh in at over 2KGs.
For what it is with even with the postage of $18.50 they are still way below the normal price so it is still a good buy IMHO.

  • Rep, can you please tell what the power factor correction is on the driver. I can't find it anywhere

    • To be honest with you in all the years I have been doing this I have never been asked so I don't know off the top of my head. Let me see if I can get some info on this and get back to you.

      Power Factor = 0.93

Thanks Rep. it's a higher factor than I thought it would be.

Not a Rep, but open to a free freebies :p

  • I'd warn against buying anything Martec. Bought 2 ceiling fans with remotes. After 8 months the remote on one failed. After another year the Rf receiver in the other fan failed.

Their warranty hotline recommended that I purchase a new receiver and get an electrician to come out and install it. What would be the point though when I know it would just fail again within another year.

For products that are not easily replaceable, these have been of shocking quality. Save yourself the headache and stay away.

      Thanks for highlighting the issues.
      Very illuminating.

I take it you are not a big fan.

You could say I'm not blown away.

        • I'll make sure Im not sucked in.. :)

  • This is awesome, thanks!! just quoted an electrician, charging me $90 per LED downlight. I do know how to install basic Ikea Hemma cord set on my ceiling. Just wondering if I would like to DIY way, is it just simply connect the 'N' and 'L' cables from the LED driver to existing 'N' and 'L' cable on the ceiling?

    • IMPORTANT note: In Australia all electrical work must be performed by a licensed Electrical Contractor. Electrical Installation work that is performed by a non-licensed individual is likely to result in insurances being voided.

      • ok. Got it!

        • Lighting Guru is spot on.

However these downlights have a flex and plug on them so provided your have plugs in the roof you can just plug this downlight into them. This also has the benefit of being able to easy change them out in future if you need to.

If however you need to hard wire them in you MUST get a licensed electrical contractor to do it or you will void your warranty. Not to mention possibly harming yourself if it is done wrong.

          Remember….. Safety Bear says Safety First…. :)
