no bargains .. pretty much the same stuff as the last sale… tv's have been cheaper before.

  • +49

Proof that TA gets a free pass here.

    He could post a $100.00 piece of dog poo and people would;
    1. See his name and click +
    2. Think, hmm TA is posting this. Maybe I need a hundred dollar pile of dog manure.

    • +49

Proof that TA gets a free pass here.

Anyone else would have had their post removed…

      • +4

Not true JV, the mods would let u get negged to the sh*thouse instead of removing it if u posted it;-).

      • Anything to get that referral code up there is a deal ;)

    • +2

Lol, most of + come from before the sale started

    • +11

Although I agree that TA has fanboys on OzBargain and anything and everything he posts gets on to homepage, I appreciate the time and effort he puts in finding some real bargains for us. I wouldn't bother him posting some crap deals like this every now and then.

      • +1

        Agreed.

    • +3

      You forgot:
      3. Insult jv, neg jv comments, be part the general anti-jv crew, regardless of how relevant jv's comments are.

      Just use coupon code POOARSE

The sale is not great … but hey … I did not vote before I saw the items (It's a negative now as there is really no great deals). But I rather prefer a heads up for a sale … and don't mind the post. (just the + voting before the deal is really known in all details makes no sense … )

    • +7

and don't mind the post. (just the + voting before the deal is really known

If you can't vote on whether or not it's a bargain, it shouldn't be posted… simple…

      • +2

I would say 30 min before is fine … even a week would be fine for me :-) And in the last Sony deals there were some bargains. The post should definitely be removed but I stick to my opinion that I rather have the information before a sale than when the deals are all sold out. There will be some lemons in there …

A solution to this would be to disallow voting on deals which are not active yet and exclude them from the front page … something along these lines … :-)

        • Well looking at this post: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/240425

It seems a previous TA post was deleted as it went inactive for too long.

TBH, the origin one I didn't mind as it actually had a bargain identified, even if it wasn't active. This current post was just spam when posted.

  • +4

I was looking for some bargains but could not find any.

    KD65X8500 65 Inch 4K Ultra HD LED Smart 3D with Android TV $4499 $2999

  • +8

So JV was negged for what reason?

    • +27

      For being jv

  • +1

most of the left over gear from last time!

  • +5

Well JV you where right my plus vote is revoked, sale is garbage.

    • +3

but now you can't -ve the deal…

      • true, i see you haven't negged either.

        • +6

There a no bargains listed in the post to +ve or -ve on…

I 'usually' only -ve when I find it cheaper elsewhere…

  • +2

This is like when Australia Post has "sales" on it's novelty items. :( neg from me, was refreshing like crazy to be disappointed.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua @ $199 is a good price

    http://www.sony.com.au/product/xperia+m4+aqua?cid=landingpag…

    • So is the M5

  • +3

    prices are pretty lame

  • These sony sales have gotten progressively worse. The first ones had actual bargains. what a shame.

  • +8

Why all the hate for TA. When you consider all the deals he posts that I/we benefit from. One bad one isn't the end of the world. So he might make something out of it, big deal as long as we save some money and I know I have then there's no harm.

    Keep posting them mate.

    • +17

Why all the hate for TA

The hate is for this post

    • +12

this post was clearly against the rules though.

      • +8

        clearly….

  • +2

TA's getting slammed but I actually picked up one of these for mum for $19 - goes elsewhere for $30-40

      • -1

        wide swing there..

      • +1

Irrelevant. Can you find it cheaper currently?

    • +1

wait why is this about TA ? he puts up good deals.. this one wasn't no one needs to take it personally its not like his the guy at Sony who put the "sale" on hehehehe

    • +3

I got it for $11, delivered by DHL straight from Singapore, with box way bigger for this small item…
Go figure…. How they make money on it…

  • +5

    speculative bargains, anyone?

    • +17

      Should have posted it on

      and not on OzBargain

Was looking for a cheap TV here but better off going down the road to JB. Can't really see any bargains.

  • +2

This looks like a good deal:

    5.5" 1080p 2GB $199

    • +1

The M5 phones are well priced at $299 but whats the difference between these and their Z range?!

      • +1

small, but significant things like not having ac wifi on the M series.

      • I love my xperias I have had last 3 generations but specs to price wise is this phone worth it? I hate lg but if the g4 is just a bit more for the better specs its better buying that.

Sony SBH60 Bluetooth Stereo Headset (damaged box) A$69

    Amazon (brand new) US$44.98/A$64
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N9OB9WC?psc=1&redirect=t…

No bargains! Can buy it from Amazon anytime.

  • +3

Sony really letting themselves down here. Their box damaged sales used to actually be incredible bargains, and now it's just a ruse to try and drum up interest. Don't get me wrong, it's still a sale, but nothing special, particularly if we can get it cheaper in store like JBHIFI.

I think back to when they did the box damaged sales on their XBA3/4's…now THAT was a bargain! Good times.

  • +1

C5 ultra and M5 are both priced 'well' at $279 and $299 respectively. Far cheaper than any price I can see at any aussie retailer.

    • Indeed. C5 ultra still comes up as 549 for me though..

      • Yeah, had my eyes on the C5. Really nice phone.

Anyone had any luck getting the discount yet?

        • +1

Why not G4 for another $100?

        • +1

          @spy:

          Need the full 6 inches.

What to try a midrange phone for a change.

        • @Icecold5000: I'll pay that. Hope it reduces to $279 then…

        • @spy:

Just got the C5 Ultra, now appears to be in limited stock though.

        • +1

@Icecold5000: thanks man, could only get the green (eeewwww)

    Sonygate…

  • +11

This is prime example of herd behavior of voting on brand recognition alone

No good bargains at all, especially for damaged boxes

    • +2

      Yep, guilty as charged.

    • HDR-AS20 at $129 is a bargain, it was on sale at $149 at JB a while ago and it got 49 votes: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/236221.

      • -2

You missed the whole point why this deal was voted negative it involved two components 1stly the fault of OP and secondly the very ordinary deal by Sony.

        • +1

Nero wasn't getting involved in the politics of the deal, just the deal itself.
Ya know, what this site is meant to be about

    • What boxes are damaged? Don't vote on description-alone ;)

I bought from the previous deal, and everything was pristine. Who knows why, but who cares. I saved a packet.

      • I didn't vote on description alone.

  • Well my sentiments are felt by others. I was browsing the prices..

Nothing to outstanding.. then again i didn't expect to much of a sale considering the only problems with these is a damaged box. Takes a few dollar for them to replace a broken box if they could be bothered by it.

  • +10

How can people vote BEFORE seeing the actual deals???

TA is great posting a lot of great bargains, but you positive voters should be ashamed if you think yourself as True Ozbargainers.

  • Wow worst 'sale' of the year I think…shame on you Sony!

  • +4

Excellent prices on the Xperias, TA. Ignore the haters.

    • +3

I see this as problems of lovers but not the haters.

True Ozbargainers can have personal preference for sure, but not to use this emotional thing to judge/vote a bargain post.

  • +2

the deal is not that great… but it's not really that bad either. And to be fair, no one knew what Sony was going to put on sale. One thing for sure we all are benefited by knowing the sale before anyone else. I believe all will say "hail TA for posting this deal before the deal is live (before knowing whether its good or not)" if it happens to be a great sale and no one (except jv) criticise the 'premature' deal posting. So, in my view, while I may not give this deal a +ve, it doesnt deserve a -ve.

    • +1

That's the issue though, no one knew what deals were going to be listed and yet the deal was still listed and the TA fanboys all upvoted.

  • +2

Haha typical, 'no bargains' when the items don't interest you.

  • While the sale might be terrible, your all a bunch of ingrates - TA posts a lot of good deals, and the one he gets wrong he is roasted for.

    Et tu, brute?!?!?!

    • Everybody can get negged one day… that is life! and what you do after that… you move on.

    • +2

Absolutely acceptable neg a non deal, whilst having full respect for the effort, past deals and the person.

But agree it is unacceptable to roast someone personally for one bad deal.

It should also be unacceptable to upvote a bad deal.

  • +3

Looks like "usual" everyday deal. No deal for me I'm afraid.

  • Is $699 a good price for BDVN9200WL (http://www.sony.com.au/product/bdv-n9200wl?cid=landingpage:E…)

Looking forward for the wireless rear speakers.

  • -1

The 65 Inch 4K Ultra HD LED Smart 3D with Android TV for $699 sounds like a good deal.

    • +3

Link? there isnt any such tv for that price i can find.

      • +4

You're right, but it would be a good deal though. 😛

        • Bargain of the year that price haha

  • +8

I've never seen so many people raise their pitchforks over a bargain (or lack thereof). Henceforth this day shall be known as Bargaingate.

TA, you got any deals on pitchforks?

    • TAgATe

  • +4

Lighting my torch now gonna join the MOB, changed from a pat on the back to lets burn him his a witch in less than 5 mins?

  • +5

So Sony had lots of sales from us in the previous damaged box promo then thinking Hmmm let's just do the same but put higher price make more profit, those ozbargains will buy again anyway without checking!

    Well, no. Fail.

And all the efforts now backfired. Reputation trashed. Bye bye. Thanks greedy.

    • +1

Pretty sure if they have another sale with deep discounts, people here will happily buy. I'm not sure their reputation is trashed.

    • Worked for me, last deal. I bought undamaged stock at amazing prices.

  • +2

    nothing nice :(

  • +2

Keep up the good work TA, neggers gunna neg. Looks like you missed the mark with this one but you are well and truly in front with the karma police :)

    • +2

Agree people here including jv are hating Sony not you. Praise TA shoots Sony.

  • +3

TA, run for the hills! The mob is coming! I'll try to hold them back with my 600 Lumen 7W Zoomable LED Flashlight.

  • this site might need to consider an interlock system where "no yet a valid deal + no bargain listed" => "voting system is locked".
Man… this "fail" will be remembered for a long time.
