BenQ Full HD Th681 Projector Refurbished $629

150

I was looking for a cheap Full HD projector for a while, and was considering W1070, which is out of stock all the time.

Just spotted on this available one, which looks good on specs: Full HD, 3000 ansi lumens, 10000:1 contrast ratio.

Any thoughts?

Is currently $997 at Officeworks.

      • 37 % discount on refurbished. I will not go for it.
        Thank you anyway

Would be nice to know what is refurbished about it.. If the lamp needs to be replaced soon for example then it's not worth it.

    • It's from the official benq store and you get "1 Year On-Site Pickup Warranty." So I'd expect the refurb to be as good as it can be.

The earlier of 6 months or 750 hours whichever comes first

So knowing the condition of the lamp would be an important factor.

  • Anyone have any other recommendations - even the sub $200 projectors? There seems to be a couple floating around with around 2000:1 contrast that seem tempting at that price.

With projectors, contrast depends on ambient light . Projector contrast spec is irrelevant.

      • I found that the Contrast Ratio was a fairly good associative reference to the other specs - each time the Contrast ratio was high, the Native Resolution and brightness/lumens seemed respectively high.
I'm hoping to find a Native resolution of at least 1000x600 for under $300 - but preferably closer to $200…
Having said all that, I guess this is really for the Forums… but maybe someone can jump in with a quick, "I bought this and it rocks my Cinematic Bedroom wall!" *8vD

I too am looking for a cheap but reliable projector for a charity organisation. That refurb Benq is not cheap.

@ozmu: Generally, "you get what you pay for" with projectors….unless you find an Ozbargain

  • Any recommendations for a full HD projector around $1000 (flexible on price but looking for value)? Also can you just stick in a USB and play avi/mkv/MP4 video files on these sort of things or do you need a separate media player?

    • +3

Need a media player. Ps4 works well plus plays games. :) Lag can be an issue for online games, but projector + 140 inch screen + decent surround sound kills any tv for movies I reckon.
I'm sure big tv investors will disagree but thats just my opinion. :)

  • you can see this in the setting screen

On a W1060 I go 7000 hours on the first globe and now on 3000 hours on a chinese globe

bear in mind, compared to a plasma, this sucker is less circa 1/2 the power
