Cheapest shipping from China??

Hi all,

I want to have a motorized curtain rail shipped from China. I found a company through Alibaba.com and they will sell me one curtain rail for US$120 which is great. But the shipping they quoted is over US$250! They simply went to FedEx to get the quote for almost overnight delivery. The company said that I can use my own shipping company if US$250 is too high.

I'm not in a rush to get the item. The package is roughly 6kg and 1.2 metres long by 0.15 x 0.15m

I would greatly appreciated any suggestions you may have on the best (read the cheapest and safe) method to get the item shipped to me from China?

Thanks!

How much is it locally? How much money are you saving, to risk using a (potentially) dodgy electrical device?

    • I'm going to expand on the above. Is it certified to Australian standards? If not and it causes a house fire, electrocution or injury will you still be covered for an insurance claim?

  • Have you taken a look at Aliexpress? It is more suitable for retail customers. I found Alibaba to be mainly for wholesalers, so the shipping arrangement for the companies could be for large orders.

  • I would suggest you go with DHL, which is much cheaper than FedEx as claimed by the seller. You can check with the seller to see if DHL is cheaper.

  • Hi everyone and thank you for your responses!

The electric curtain rail I want does come compliant with Australian Safety standards. I have checked Aliexpress, however I am after more of an industrial strength electric curtain rail which I found on Alibaba.com and which the factory is willing to sell only one to me, rather than the minimum order of 500!

Finally I asked for the price for shipping via FedEx, but it is only about $50 cheaper. I can't bring myself to pay US$200 for delivery from China for a 6kg package.

Any others with suggestions for postage / shipping options from China?
