    Data sims, good deal tho

  • This could be paired with this, yes? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245504
    If so, that's fantastic.

    • That's only on prepaid so this won't get you the free streaming perk.

  • Better to get the $50 a month plan and get 11GB of days plus calls to international countries.

I encourage you to re-read the OP's title.

Nice deal! Though the Vodafone double-data is still slightly better (but ending soon): http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/mobile-broadband/recharg…
Seems my mobile broadband sims on Vodafone can receive calls and text too which is handy.

    • text is normal i get them on work telstra thing as well, Voice will work if its going over the data network, usually it doesnt work i assume because they bar the sim from the GSM network .. :)

I see, thanks for info. Calls definitely work, although obviously I can't make outgoing calls (actually I never tried with credit, maybe I can but it does says it is a MBB Sim on the My Vodafone Portal) but nevertheless handy as a bonus feature.

        • thanks for posting it though, exactly what i've been looking for for my ipad. I assume all i need to do is get the $2 sim starter thing then recharge with one of the 365 day options. have to try and get a sim before 31st as well i think ..hehe they carry them in shops?

        • +1

@scud70: make sure you ACTIVATE the sim before 31st May then you will have 3 top-ups worth of double data until 30th September. For me personally I bought the $9 Vodafone Broadband USB sticks which came with 1.5gb MBB sim inside, turned out the dongles are absolutely useless. For Sim only they definitely carry them in shops just look for Vodafone MBB Sim or ask at any Vodafone Store :-)

PS: better get the right sized sim for your iPad otherwise simply have a sim cutter ready to cut the micro into a nano (which is what I did).

        • @nizsmo: from the looks of it the sim only thing is meant to come in the tripple size sim thing. :) thanks for the pointers!

  • Currently looking for a iPad tablet plan. Might need to Live Chat Optus.

you use 10gig a month on your ipad? just curious …

im in a similar boat.. i think the vodafone double data thing posted above might be a better option for an ipad.. :)

      • +1

Agreed, unless huge amounts of data is utilised on your iPad otherwise Vodafone's double-data has a handy 365-day expiry. For 105gb of data you can get it for $250 (with 365 day expiry, 2x top-up) which is a pretty good deal in my opinion and comes close to the 12-month of data put together for this Optus plan (120gb) which costs $420 over 12 months.

      • No I don't at the moment because I'm being conservative otherwise I can Pandora everyday in the car's headunit and also YouTube. That'll rack up the usage straight away.

  • I hope I am reading wrong, but the CIS says it is a 24 month plan? The others on the same page (3 on left side) are all month/month though. Anyhow, please check…woops, now says..Minimum Term
You can get this plan on a month-to-month or 24 month contract.

Got all excited until I re-read the title, data sim….

Paid $34.95 for similar plan a couple of years ago (Optus)

Cancelled it when the Telstra umm "deal" for transfer bucks came along ;)

  • Anyone know if the data sim would work with this? http://www.optus.com.au/shop/prepaid/mobile-broadband/wifi/e…

  • 50gb for $70 is better value, if you don't mind paying $240 for their modem or going on a 12/24 month contract

    • I agree, but don't forget speed is capped at 5/1 or 12/1 if you can get 2300Mhz and it's a fixed service not mobile.

Hooray for glitch Sims [90G/365 $45] from Winter’15 .. still going strong :>
+about 10gig thru each w/ T's mobile foxtel app- fortunately zerorated.
Google Play store what's left of content money.

Great show of incrementalism otherwise *'Optus Voda over the period :D

  • So this would become $35-$10 bundling discount with my mobile = $25 a month and I get to data pool as well?

    http://smb.optus.com.au/opfiles/Shop/All/cis/Cis%20Documents/CIS_$35_My_Mobile_Broadband_Plus_10GB.PDF

    • No, I don't think so. The bundling discount is offered to home broadband customers when they add a postpaid mobile (phone) service, as opposed to a mobile broadband service.

  • Can I use this on my phone?

This has just now been renewed for another month: "Online only 10GB Data SIM plan for just $35 per month. Cost of 1MB is $0.0034. Offer ends 31 May 2016."

They've also added a 25GB @ $90 plan: "New massive 25GB Data SIM plan for just $90 per month. Cost of 1MB is $0.0035."

  • Is there any way to cap data at 10GB so don't incur additional $10 charge? It would be constant headache to monitor usage

    • You cant. I did call and ask them and they said they can stop the data usage as of now only that means you still need to get charge before you realise you are over and get it stopped. All telco will not implement this function or do this for you even they already can do this.

  • Went into a Voda store today, they gave me the $2 starter kit for free when I prepaid $60. My MBB is now activated but I'm not getting the double data, just the 10GB. I'll check the app again in the morning to see if their system updates overnight.

    • I can tell you it wont. You need to contact their customer service and if you are lucky you cpuld get it done in an hour.

      • Went back to the store this morning and was told the double data will appear in a couple of days. If not by Monday I'll be back at the store looking for answers. I find the staff calling customer service get things done quicker.

        • Double data has finally appeared on the Voda app, 2 days after activating.
