iOS KALUOS Lightning to USB Cable 20cm Silver (AU $1.07) Shipped @ AliExpress

176

Full credit goes to PR0r https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/176185 for alerting many of us to the good deal back in March https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/240694?page=1#comment

That is also an ACTIVE deal again ATM too BTW http://www.aliexpress.com/item/KALUOS-MFI-8pin-USB-Data-Sync…

I ordered a 1.5mtr Silver from the last deal and this arrived in a great package and worked 100% with my friends iPhone 5S, SE and iPhone 6.

JMERC in the post comments https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/240694?page=1#comment-3644… also testified to the cables being compatible.

I'd steer clear of the other variants (Rose Gold, Gold etc) just in case.

Great deal IMO. $1.07 delivered for a brand name cable of solid quality (you can also pay $3.19 for a 2m cable if that's your thing)

No PayPal which isn't great, but there is Buyer Protection and did CC payment in March with no issues.

Estimated Delivery Time: 15-45 days (ships out within 2 business days)

Sale ends Sunday.

Mod: There is no mention of MFI in the AliExpress listing (only the URL), removed this word from the OzBargain deals. From comments it appears that this is not MFI certified.

i've had 340+ purchases with aliexpress and have never had an issue with using CC. Aliexpress/Alibaba/Alipay are a huge company (larger than Amazon) so certainly not dodgy.

delivery is free for 1 or 2 cables but then for 3 or more then delivery of $1.58 is added. simple solution - make multiple orders if you want more than 2 cables.

Thanks ordered 2 20 cm, although one of the previous Kalous cable charge only from one side.

Didn't get much traction but take a read of my post here if you aren't comfortable using cables that aren't top quality. The tldr is that these cables work but are almost definitely not MFi Certified and not the best quality you can get. But if you're after some cheap cables that work, this is still a great deal.

    • GREAT - advice to all read this before you buy.

    • Almost definately not mfi?

This hasnt been brought up before and doesnt seem like there have been any orher complaints about this.

Are you sure you didnt just get a dodgy cable?

I beleive this issue has been raised before on here, with the general consesus that the cable will most likely work but is only advertised as MFI when it is not. On these listings however, I cannot find anythying suggesting these are MFI certified.

Mine worked for about 3/4 weeks - now doesn't. For $1.07 maybe worth a risk but I will now spend $7 on the one advised in the link above that are tested.

  • do they take paypal? I can't seem to find that option at the checkout, correct me if i'm wrong

    • No PayPal which isn't great, but there is Buyer Protection and did CC payment in March with no issues.

    • no, but I have never had any problem with using my CCard for heaps of purchases, even refunds have been no problems.

  • Anyone know that can I use Alipay at AliExpress? Looks very strange that Alipay and AliExpress are in same company, but I can't find the way to pay AliExpress by Alipay credit.

  • So they arent mfi?

I purchased a 1m cable a few weeks ago. It doesn't work, just displays the error message saying this accessory is not supported.
I tired opening a dispute with AliExpress but they are very much sided to the seller. I have sent them 5 photos and a video and they keep asking for more evidence. I think they try to keep you jumping through hoops till you give up.

If anyone else gets one that doesn't work it would be best to just to open a dispute saying you never received it rather then claiming it doesn't work.

    • Agreed, the dispute process is a real beat around the bush, and in the end you will most likely need to request credit card chargeback from your bank as AE and their merchants might not care much. Be sure to leave realistic feedback early on before the time window to do so closes. Also, do not accept the sellers solution until they have delivered it.

These cables are not MFi even though they are claimed to be - my cable didn't work at all. Lodged a dispute saying it was a fake and didn't even work and the seller refunded me promptly.

I ordered a few cables back in March from these guys. All cables I received worked and have had no issues. Another order back in November and the cables from then are absolutely fine too. Considering these are down to a dollar it's a real bargain! I personally don't care about it being MFI or not, sure it's advertised as being so but at this price, and the product working, you'd be crazy not to jump on it.
I'm ordering some more for the inlaws now so thanks!

  • Only have 2 iPad Air, not tried on iPhone…
I bought two, one works fine, havent tried the other one yet.
Even the $1 Kogan ones work alright, so what do you expect?
I'd be careful with charger, it might fry you but a cable at 5v wont really do real damage.

  • FYI Ali express are Sh*t if anything goes wrong. I would be cautious about these mine no longer works.

I bought a $60 leather wallet on alliexpress, never arrived I raised a complaint to get my money back, seller called me a liar and said it was delivered. Ali express then wanted me to get Australian post to admit they lost the item which they won't do. So now I'll buy cheap stuff but never spend more than a few $$$

    • Or if you spend more than $30 it helps to get tracking

    • I purchased an iPhone and had trouble with it freezing. I raised a dispute with the seller and was offered to send it back for replacement or have the cost of repair refunded. I took it to a local phone shop who quoted me, emailed them the quote and had the money charged back.
I've also had a phone case not arrive and had that refunded without an issue.

Did you contact the seller about the cord no longer working? How'd you go with that?

These are not MFI certified. I bought one to try, they work OK as data cables but the charging current is only 0.5A.

Don't waste your time. Only buy MFI cables.

  • bought this but cannot charge at all, : (

  • received today. doesn't work. rubbish.
