Went to google furi knife sharpener and saw this. Other retailers sell for around ~$48

Cannot comment on the quality or the effectiveness, but in my experience furi is a good brand. Reviews from kitchenwaredirect put it as 9/10

    • Out of stock :(

      • OzBargained. Was in stock for few hours that I checked but now its gone…

  • I've got one of these - reckon it does a pretty decent job but I've only used it on my cheaper knives.
I haven't used it on my really expensive knife though, since I bought it with a whetstone.

    • Thank you.

      • Out of stock now :(

  • Bought from ebay couple of month ago, very good product, easy & safe to use, recommend!

  • I also rate this sharpener, used it on my furi knives for a year or so before the kids decided it looked cool and stole it. I does a good job on slightly blunt knives and is very easy to use.

Bear in mind this is not great for asian knives that have a shallower sharpened angle (a la Globals).

  • I have this as well and very happy with it. have used it for about 5 years and still going strong. I have Global knives, and this does the trick well. Quick and simple - takes 20 seconds to make the magic happen.

Can't speak to the price, and so won't "+1"

  • Two comments above, one each for and against using for global knives…..

Anyone else weigh in with further comments or advice?

I'm a bit of a knife snob, global knives I will accept and use, but it has to go up from there. My daily is a tojiro dp3, and it craps all over my mums global knives. My special knife is a Kasumi 32 layer Damascus steel.

I won't use any European knives unless there's nothing else.

      Global<furi<shun,tojiro<Kasumi<miyabi

I've left out the other niche Japanese brands. Global is way better than the stamped shit or Wiltshire knives you buy at kmart

        Global<furi?
        Are you sure??

        • A lot of people would say furi and global are probably equal. I'd retract my previous < and put an =. I would probably pick global over furi

    • I use these on my globals and haven't had any problems. In fact, I'm on my second knife shapener of this type.
Even works well on my global serrated knife.

  • As ridiculous as it seems this is the best one I have used.

New TV I bough has a glass base that I am not using, but it makes a great cheese platter and knife sharpener.

    • Is that for real? Almost too humerous to try…..but soooo tempting

      • +1

Yes, it is for real but that procedure is called honing the knife. Its aim is to polish away micro pits off an already sharpened knife edge. (Every time you use a knife, micro pitting will occur.) Honing will never sharpen a dull edge because it is too gentle; you need to grind steel off a dull edge in order to restore its geometry. https://lansky.com/index.php/blog/difference-between-honing-…

  • Very good sharpener, had one for years.

    • Love the video with the subtitles, just in case you didn't know which method of sharpening was "easy" and which was "difficult".

    • That page says $19.95 + $9.90 Shipping … am I missing something?

  • I actually have one of these, but do not use it much out of fear that I'm doing it wrong and will damage good knifes (I'm not too knowledgeable on these things).
Can someone comment on how much pressure should be put on a knife when using this, if any pressure at all?
Will this sharpen or damage a set of Analon knifes?
