Spending QFF points

So I have 55k points, soon to be 95k points. I don't have any interest in spending these on flight upgrades, so are exchanging these for wish gift cards my best bet?

I think it's hard to sell points to other people, but I've noticed people selling for way more money than I could redeem for gift cards (1 cent per point). ie. people would sell 87k points for $870 where 87k points would only garner $500 in wish gift cards.

  • Not hard to sell points to other people, plenty of for sale ads on here. The good thing about QFF is they go through pretty quickly.

  • +2

A bunch of people had their QFF accounts investigated recently for buying/selling points

There is a risk that you'll lose them

    • Yep. I had my perfectly valid transfer to my partner blocked because it "looked suspicious". They're cracking down on this behaviour.

  • Instead of selling points, you may want to consider finding someone (i.e. someone you know) who wants flights, booking a flight for them and asking to be paid 1c/per point spent. This way you get your money, and you aren't breaking qantas FF rules.

Unfortunately this is still against the rules as you can only book for an "eligible family member"…

13.1.4 Reward Flights are available only to Members and their Eligible Family Members…

'Eligible Family Member' of a Member means any person the Member can demonstrate, to the reasonable satisfaction of Qantas, as being related to that Member in any of the ways described below:

      Husband/Wife
      Parent/Step-parent
      Domestic Partner/De Facto
      Child, including foster & step-child
      Brother/Sister
      Half Brother/Sister

      Son/Daughter-in-law
      Brother/Sister-in-law

  • The best value gift card for points is the David Jones eGift Card. But the Wish is much more flexible. If they're not likely to expire soon I'd wait until you're planning on buying something (a TV, a couch, anything DJs/Myer/JBHifi sell that is pricy) and cash in points for cards then.
