Do you visit multiple supermarkets to complete your weekly shop?

Hi,

I am doing a short survey, with the question "Do you visit multiple supermarkets to complete your weekly shop?". What I mean by this is do you shop around to get the best deals on your grocery list. EG. Completing 50% of your shop at Woolworths, then going to Coles to complete the other 50% so that you can get the best bargain with what those shops have on sale.

I have added a poll below.

I would much appreciate your feedback, and you can drop a comment if you'd like to go into more details.

Best regards,
Josh.

  • I do if I'm in the city where Coles and Woolworths are across the road from each other.

Mind you Aldi just opened up 5 minutes away so I doubt I'll be using the former two much anymore.

Aldi first, then coles/woolies for what we don't / can't get at aldi.

This to a tee. If I had a bit more time, I would try to do some more markets/butchers, etc.

Aldi first and then Coles/Woolies for $5 SIMs with $30 credit.

Who needs to eat when you can surf the internet?

  • I have both Coles and Woolworths close by so I just hit up the specials at both. I also do click and collect when I can to save time

I have a local fruit market and small supermarket. I wouldn't be caught dead in a coles or woolworths.

    1. Coles and Woolies first for all the 1/2 price specials + milk
    2. Aldi next for fruit and veggies (only the 7 day deals)
    3. Local fruit and veg shop for the remaining fruit and veggies.

I do these trips every weekend. Luckily, I have Aldi, Coles and the local fruit & veg shop next to each other and Woolies just behind my home.

Local IGA has good cheap meat, generally Coles for the rest unless WW has something on special, or something to enter a competition with :)

  • TBones, The Local Green Grocer, Coles, Aldi. I used to do the grocery order for Coles. I see every cent!

  • I don't do a weekly shop.

I usually shop when I'm going past a supermarket when I'm going to/from somewhere and need to buy some groceries.

However, when Coles or Woolworths offers me a decent targeted offer for their rewards program, then I will shop exclusively at one of them for the promotion. For example Woolworths gave me $10 back on a $40 shop for two weeks, and then $20 back on the third week.

  • I also take advantage of the loyalty programs targeted offers. I split my shopping into multiple transactions at Coles and Woolworths using the lowest target possible. I stock up on half price specials then usually get 15-25% back using the targeted offers. Each member of our family has their own account with each loyalty program. Usually each week, at least one member of the family gets a targeted offer which is worth taking up.

The only time I use Aldi or the local fruit and veg shop is on the rare occasions we don't get any reasonable targeted offers and I'm trying to spend as little as possible on fresh goods until the following week.

  • We mostly shop at coles because we love the staff and service and we usually stock up on half price specials on the brands we love :) Like once a every 2 weeks we will head to woolies to get some specials. Spud shed is best for Fruit n Veg

  • I shop at both Coles and Woolies and pick out the specials at each. I never shop at Aldi. I've never understood the love affair with Aldi. They aren't any cheaper than the home brands at Coles and Woolies but you can get 5% off egift cards which makes Coles and Woolies 5% cheaper than Aldi.

  • The Hyperdome re-design is actually pretty good, I can go Butcher->Fruit Shop->Coles and get a good mix of quality/deals without having to traipse all over the place.

  • Coles is like a few hundred metres closer than woolies then like another few steps to aldi. But we shop at aldi because my roommate is new to the country.

  • generally shop from the catalogues also shop from local Fruit&veggie shop and local butchers as they have prices as low or lower than the majors and i know even with the majors price matching if i don't support the little bloke he will close and the prices will go back up
