lol. That's not a pressure cooker as the Philips is

      • There was nothing in the item description to indicate it's a pressure cooker, hence the comparison.

$104.5 price mathced at BigW QV Melbourne

    • How did you work this out?

    • Did you get another $30 cash redemption?

      • Sure, apply $30 cash before 22 May

    • Must be from Target in-store for $104.5?

    • I managed to also get a price match at bigw! For $704with the cashback its a great price!

    • Quick Update. I tried to get the department stores to Price match this @ $104.5 but they all refused. DJ said they cant honour an out of stock item. Myer and Bing lee said it's below their cost price of $180. Oh well $115 isn't too bad for this I guess.

      • I had the exact same experience. Big W actually called Target and confirmed it was out of stock. Bing Lee, Harvey Norman, and Myer all just said it was far below cost price.

Even though $115 isn't bad, it is still $40 more than the target price ($105 - $30).

It isn't an unbelieveably good product or price at $115 — so I'll just pass.

        • Well Yeah. My long time experience with Pressure cooking is that it isn't very precision. You 'bung it all in' and hope something comes out of it.

I want to replace my current stainless steel non-electric one and they are priced around the $60-$100 anyway. Keeping this in mind, $115 is an ok deal.

        • @monstermash:

Have you considered the Tefal Cook4Me (~$230) or the Breville Slow Fast BPR200 cooker ($120)?

The cook4me has quite good reviews, but is quite pricey

It's a toss-of-coin thing, all depends on who you get. The lady who served me yesterday at Chadstone VIC (6.15PM) did not even look at my phone, she just asked me to quote the price and the store (Target) and that was it!

        • Yeh the lady i spoke to at the counter asked her supervisor and then he asked his manager and the manager said yes. Luckily it worked out for me :)

  • Seems like a very good price for a multi-cooker. Can anyone provide feedback for it? Reviews on Product review are mixed.

I am looking to replace the Michelle Bridges pressure cooker I bought through OzB sometime back, which doesn't quite do the job. I am mainly looking to cook Rice, Lentils, tenderize meat in a curry or stew etc. Also, it'll be great if someone comments on its slow cooking features.

    • I have had one for about a month. I really like it, it seems to work well. Have done slow and pressure cooking in it but haven't tried rice or lentils.

      • Whats the difference between slow and pressure cooking?

        • +1

Pressure cooking usually takes between 20-45 mins where you seal in the food and super heat by trapping in the steam. Slow cooking is doing the same thing but with very little intensity. Food is usually falling of the bone after slow cooking and absorbs the flavour really well but can take anywhere between 4-8 hours (in a traditional slow cooker) depending on what you cook.

        • I am a slow cooker so that I don't need that. Pressure cooker is fine for me

        • @ntt:
          Slow cooking taste better?

        • @Twisty: the real slow cooking machine, yes! Me, no.

    • I've made rice and biryani in it a few times and it's been pretty good, it does take a while to heat up/build pressure though. So the 14 minute rice setting is quite a bit longer. It's also quite large (6L) and recommends being at least 1/3 full, so you'll need to make quite a bit of food in it.

Haven't tried meat so not sure on that.

      • Rice takes half an hour. It requires 14 minutes to warm up to cooking temp and another 14 minutes to finish the programme.

Pretty good for making congee too if you're into that sort of thing, you just add more water and increase the cooking time as required by recipe

How is this better than the target deal of $104.50? (I missed out on the CB as I bought 3 days before it started)

    • Oh right! Missed that one too.

    • Oh…i didn't see this one… the last one I remember was for around $140…

    • wow, that was an incredible deal. I think i'll wait, this one is not worth it in this case

Thanks so much for this link!! I managed to use it to get DJ to pricematch… After the DJ gift card discount with AMEX cash back offer the price effectively comes down to ~$50!!! Crazy bargain!

  • $104.50 minus the $30 cash back offer is a sweet deal for this, even though the reviews are mixed.

  • yogurt and bake? how? anyone really tried?

    • Have tried yoghurt a few times (since we easily spend $15/week on Jalna yoghurt), it's dead easy but comes out quite runny. I like thick yoghurt so after you make it you'd have to strain it to get a Greek style yoghurt. The straining annoys me and get get quite messy. I have tried adding milk powder as per the instructions but that doesn't seem to do anything in terms of thickness.

      • thanks. good to know.

  • Hi faye,

Could you please post recipt for BigW QV Melbourne? May be they can match the price in WA..

    Thanks,

I am upvoting this one because I would have never known about the $104.50 Target deal without the commentaries here!!

  • I bought this for $188 a few hours ago. Now it's $181 0_o

    • TGG after dark sale always happens during the ebay promo period.. So it pays to wait till after 7PM before making your purchase (unless it's super hot item like Dyson of course)

  • Just used it for the first time today. Pressure cooked bbq ribs. Super easy come out awesome and tender! Cant wait to use it again :)

  • How to sign up so i can find the bargain for phillips all in one cooker in the future. Newbie here to the forum.
