  • Anyone going for a 'little ass'?

  • -2

So I can go there and pickup 1000 burritos, sweet, sell them on the streets for $2, $2000 in my pocket tax free

  • Just round the corner from me. Sweet.

  • crap..too far
    good deal though, thanks

  • Ozbargain meetup? The only problem is accessing the joint which was one of the reasons why the predecessor(zushi-bento) closed down, apart from its supposedly crappy food.

    • There wasn't normally be problems accessing it, although I imaging with 1000 free burritos it's going to be a pain today. They had a big car park and you're allowed to do U turns at the two lights near it. You can also approach it from another direction. Highly accessible.

The biggest problem with Zushi, the Ascot one at least, was regular level Japanese food at premium prices. That place was 150-200% the prices of most Japanese places for the same quality level food.

It was more expensive because it was also a more traditional restaurant experience than those cheaper places. Relatively nice decor and good table service.

But the location and the building were best for fast food. There's a Maccas across the road filling the view. There's A KFC, Dominos, Subway, Pasta Bow, noodle place, Hungry Jacks and petrol station in the next couple hundred meters. The view was of a 4-6 lane highway and they probably took another hit while they expanded it from four to six lanes as that messed with traffic.

So it was just the wrong kind of restaurant for that location. If they'd had amazing food they could have pulled it off - that's what the Chinese place in the middle of those fast food places does. High prices but also higher quality Chinese than most Chinese places.

      • Heard the food at Zushi Ascot was very average. You can go to Momiji down the road for quality, cheaper, authentic japanese food, and meet the quirky owner.
Valid point about the chinese restaurant. That place gets busy!
I guess you also get the travelers from the motels coming down for casual dining that isnt 'fast food'.

        • Never tried momiji yet will give it a go soon

        • @fritzsticker: I think it's been permanently closed too. So maybe my price/location theory is wrong and Belmont/Ascot just doesn't dig Japanese food.

        • @tantryl:
U had me there! I had Momiji tonight to make sure they're still there, and to satisfy my japanese craving. lol!

The owner is japanese which is a rarity these days, as most other joints are owned/staffed by Chinese speaking ppl.

        • @mmd: My bad. I'm sure something in the Belvidere strip shut down recently…

  • Massive line of ppl. No point waiting in line

  • Drive thru was more quicker.. Went in there just now..

    • Wow didnt realise they have drive-thru.
      Might give it another go.
Was there still heaps of ppl?

  • got my burrito around 4pm. no queue at all :)
