  • Is D-Link better than Netgear?

    • no.

      D-Link keeps overheatin' boys.

      • I've been running an old D-Link 502T modem, and a 634M wireless router for years and have never had an issue. 5 years and counting for the modem, and about 3 years for the router…. no overheats, no random resets, no issues with reliability. Same with my network cards…. all D-Link, all working a treat.

        • i think im just unlucky, my d-link router died after 14 months of use. went onto a netgear and it's been giving me troubles with my net connection once every few months…..

        • you r just the lucky one. I'm not the only one who complained about Dlink's overheat and disconnection on high data trafic. I have 3 dinklink wireless router- all with this problem. Even TP link did better in this point

      • Do you mean TP-Link keeps overheating?

  • Sweet. Really hope I can get this, need a router atm. Checked my local comp store, $55.

Can anyone comment on the reputation of this store?

    • +1

9289's fine. I've bought quite a few things from them. They used to have a lot of deals on OzBargain. Haven't seen so much of them lately but yea they should be fine.

    • 9289 have been great, imho! Bought several things, all came pretty quick.

If all you want is a router this may be a very good buy, but if you want to expand your network in the future, this is not compatible with WDS, and has no usb port for printer sharing, etc.

    • as per above, i've bought many things from 9289, to multiple addresses. no issues. I've been to the physical store too

    • Sweet. Thanks (:

  • Check out this thread, it should help out.

I want to get this but I'm leaving the country in 2 months XD

  • Product not found?

  • Looks like its gone already? Link doesn't work

  • ouch, that was quick

  • damn, must have snapped up one of the last ones. I swear I JUST processed my order less than 2 minutes ago

  • I just bought it a few minutes ago, paid via paypal, and money has been taken, hopefully (for me anyway) i caught the last one, the money has been paid so hope its not a big screw around…

  • Sigh I digressed reading a review and then when I added to cart it disappeared.

    • I got one, it was so cheap didn't even google it or read a review. :)

it was listed on buckscoop late afternoon. Buckscoopers must have bought most of the stock.

  • Dir-600 supports custom firmware (Rev A1 support OpenWRT, Rev B support DD-WRT) and has a reasonably fast processor. Also it has a ROM boot loader which means you are unlikely to brick it while you play around with custom firmware.

    See http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dir-600

    http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/DIR-600

It does not support client bridge mode, but supports repeater bridge mode.

  • Good deal for as long as their stock lasted. I've bought goods from these guys on 4 seperate occasions, and had a very positive experience every time.

  • I only have a Wireless USB Internet Connection (DODO). Am I able to use this Router to share my Internet connection from my Desktop to my Laptop? Any help appreciated

    • you can but it's too complicated and you have to keep your desktop on all the time to share.

You need a router that you can plug in your dodo usb modem and use desktop and/or laptop independently from each other.

Like this:http://www.netcomm.com.au/netcomm-products/3g-mobile-broadband/n3g007w (just googled it I don't know if this brand is any good)

      • Thanks very much Sharp for responding. This is most useful information. I'd prefer to consider your second option rather than have the PC on just for internet connection to my laptop.

        Cheers!

  • It's back on their site for $74.40 :(

  • Well, it turns out that i ordered and paid before the stock system updated, as it was bought and paid for beforehand, they have offered me an EDiMAX BR-6324nL at the same price ie:29.99 with free shipping, very happy with that.
Instead of the usual "out of stock, sorry, heres your money" , they offered a different product at the same price, cant beat that..
BIG +1 for 9289 from me, great service, cant go wrong :)

    • +1 from me as well.

Just received my router. is this the fastest service or what???

I'm amazed how quick these guys are!!!

    • thats pretty cool of them

  • For those that missed out you maybe able to get the edimax for same price: http://store.9289.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cP…
good luck - this deal has been available for at least 5hrs.

  • Thanks very much Radar. Bought it and hopefully they'll keep the stock until my direct deposit (couldn't see a surcharge in the terms and conditions but I remember they did so making sure)
