Anyway to Take Advantage of The QLD First Home Buyer Stamp Duty Concession When Your First Home in Joint Names?

We bought our first home (for both of us) in joint name and saved ourselves from paying the QLD stamp duty. After that I realised that could turn out to be a costly 'mistake' as if we registered it in one individual name, next house can be registered in the other name and both will get the stamp duty concession.

Is there anyway to 'fix' this 'mistake'?

Nope. Once you settled on the first, you are unable to sign the statutory declaration the next time around saying that you haven't owned property, unless, you want to swear false declarations.

It it helps you any, even if the property was purchased in only one name initially, I'm pretty sure that the other partner may eventually become ineligible based upon how long you've been together and/or married. Look it up if you're particularly eager.
