the application link seems to be down

  • Damn. The old deal was 1 movie ticket per month for 12 months. I'd prefer gold class.

    • +3

Hello OzB, we just started experiencing downtime with our application forms, so you might have issues applying right now. Our IT team are working through it now and I will let you know when we are back online and you are able to apply. Apologies for the trouble. Speak soon, Scott.

      • +5

Hello Rep, is there any offer for Existing customers?

        • +3

They should reward loyal customers as well :(

        • +2

          @seigweilo:

It's all about getting new customers into the system not looking after the one that are already in the system

It's all about a focus on growth not on sustaining current clientele

      • Hi, are there any offers for the Frank credit card?

      • How is Me Bank's interest rate vis-a-vis ING Direct Savings Maximizer? Is Me Bank card valid on all banks' ATMs? I need to decide whether to switch from ING to Me.

        • 3.35 v 3. Yes, they refund fees.

        • @wxyz234: If so, why is ING Direct customer base much bigger than? Just confused which one to go for.

  • -6

If I take up this deal, is it easy to sell the Gold Class tickets? How much can I get for them?

    • +3

      I'll give you $10

      • -1

So does that mean this deal is only worth $60?

        • +33

If you sell to me then yes.

    • +8

Not sure why the down voting. Seems like a legitimate question. He's not stealing movie tickets from you.

      • +5

        It's okay. It's just peer-pressure bullying.

But yeah I would like to know the answer because I'm not a big movie fan and feel like selling the tix is better value for me.

        • +2

They're about $40 but on RACQ you can get them for $30 so I think around those figures.

        • +1

@ippy: I think off-peak is about $25ish at RACQ. They'll be potentially easier to sell as a pair. 2 for $40 would be a quick sale I would guess, but you could probably sell 2 for $45 through Facebook or something. Maybe even a touch more - depending on how savvy your Facebook friends are (or aren't).

    • +1

From terms and conditions - Voucher is not refundable, cannot be sold and cannot be exchanged.

Whether you actually are able to or not…..

  • link dosent work

  • Cn anyone give a brief description of what is required to open an account, other than going thru the application form. Do I need to fax any photocopies of ID, etc…

    • +3

These days everything is online. No need to fax !

    • +13

      You'll need to morse code your full name, address and DOB to .— .— .— .-.-.- . -… .- -. -.- .-.-.- -.-. —- — .-.-.- .- ..-

    • -1

What's this "fax" thing you speak of?

      … kidding

  • +20

Don't expect ME to deliver on the deal. I took up one of their offers before and never received the promo even though I met all of the conditions. The customer support people just put me on hold or ummed and ahhed for extended periods so I gave up and closed the account.

    • Yeah same experience. Tempted by the offer, but just not sure they'll deliver.

      • had the same experience.. There was a deal to refer people and if they open account you get $50, they get $50 (same as what ING keep running).. never got mine or the friend who was nice enough to go through the trouble…. for nothing!

        • Yeah same promo!

    • +7

I'm in the middle of the last movie promo. I've received all the movie tickets I am entitled to so far.

      • Nice! I opened one too months ago for that same promotion but never received anything. When I rang they said they didn't know anything about a movie ticket promo :S

Can I ask - How often do you use the card? at least once every 7 days or just once each week period from the start of the month?

        • +1

At least once every 6 or 7 days.

There's some months I haven't been able to, and I didn't receive my tickets that month.

The tickets take about 10 days to come through.

        • @sween64: Thanks :D I actually just called them and turns out I had an account for a short time two years ago… Oops! So no movie tickets for me this time round :P

    • +1

Still waiting on my replacement card…

    • +1

Lodge a complaint with the financial ombudsman and they'll chase it up for you

We will let you know when the application link is back up and running. Scott

      • +6
      • Hi I can't apply online because the application form won't allow me to put a 2 name first name. Usually I'd just remove the space however it needs to match my drivers licence. I tried calling and applying on the phone but the agent said they can only open the account but not apply the promotion code.

  • +15

Will the bank pay for a babysitter too?

    • +23

yes, You can deposit baby to the bank.. & withdraw from any atm later!

  • +3

    I took the last offer.
Received 3 tkts so far (missed one month because I didnt tap and pay in one week)
Apart from that, never saw any issues with their offers.

Definitely looking to open up another account, but looks like the site is OZBargained!!! Damn…

  • +2

what is the expiry date for the vouchers?

    • +3

The site says "Voucher will have an expiry date of 9 months from the date of issue"

  • +1

I'm guessing if I took advantage of the previous offer of a movie ticket a month I won't be able to take part in this one?

    • +1

      Correct.

  • +2

So you can't apply if you've EVER had a ME ACCT before?

    • +2

I'd like to clarify that too, looks like we can't:

Limited time offer available from 30 June 2016 to 31 July 2016 (“promo period”) if you (1) successfully open your first ever ME Everyday Transaction Account (ETA) during the promo period

    • Yes correct. Me bank is a 1 time thing. Prior promo applications will mean you are ineligible for future promos

    • +6

This sort of thing really annoys me. I have been a loyal customer for years and never got any freebies. Suppose that'll teach me.

  • +1

i opened an acc when they gave free $100. i want this too but for virgin only. sigh…

    • Create one for you mum, dad, grandfather, cat, dog list goes on…

      • Can you legally do that ?

Don't you have to provide a form of ID or something ?

        • Yeah why not it's all done online. As long as the verification matches then you're good to go.

    • +6

For virgin only? That's a serious discrimination.

      • +5

yep, for first timer only in t&c

  • +1

ME is known for not delivering on their offers. I wouldn't bother.

  • +1

Is it really worth it? I have seen so many bad reviews. I know that they were offering the best interest rate after variable but I remember distinctly their apply link was not working at that time as well After reading the comments on http://www.productreview.com.au/p/me-members-equity-bank.htm… I decided against it.

  • +6

"We are currently experiencing issues with savvy Ozbargainers. Please check back shortly.”

  • +11

If the bank can't handle sign ups, how is it going to handle things like deposits, withdrawals and statements?

    • +3

Well I cant login to my account, so its not just sign ups…

      • +2

Both my and my wife's online accounts randomly locked when we started and hers locked again later.

My 2c: Don't use as your only/main bank!

        • Is it just Me bank or any online bank account? Could you find out the reason from bank for the locking?

        • @virhlpool: Never had lockout troubles with any other bank (ING, BankWest, CommBank, QTMB…),

  • +3

I am amazed at the capabilities of their IT dept, they still havent managed to bring it back online!

  • Do u need to deposit X amount per month to avoid fees?
    REP?

    • +2

I signed up earlier today, for the "first time ever".
Hope ME bank delivers on their campaign. 6x Gold Class is definitely worth the effort of one tap a week.

Anyways, voteoften, there are no fees for this account, no minimum balance or transfer frequency.

      • +1

does your "first time ever" mean that you were a previous customer? or you have more than 1 identity that you can use? Not even being cheeky, I genuinely want to know cause if I pop my ME bank cherry on this deal…I might miss out in the future!

        • It was an emphasis that it IS my first time ever. So yeah popping my ME bank cherry on this deal.

6 GC tix is enough for me to bite. :D

        • @epoch007: ohhh I get it now hahah I read it as your fake first time ever.

      • Thanks. This is well worth it,

  • +1

Just checked me bank website, apparently their whole internet banking is down. below message displayed on the site.

"ME is currently experiencing a Telstra-related outage affecting services. For more information click here. "

    • +2

      OB broke Telstra

      • +2

Telstra has been broken for a while now.

    • +1

Oh yeah… there were Telstra outages in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth and Tasmania. Probably they have their servers in one of these places.

      • +4

I think another Data Party on the way the ;)

  • +7

just do 1 cent paywave at your local coles, woolworths on the self serve check out and then pay for the rest of your groceries with your proper account.

I plan to transfer $1 to this account and then do this every week along with my partner.

    • +32

Well done on scoring a partner whilst having those traits.

      • -7

Can't neg that comment enough. Be (profanity) rude somewhere else.

      • Love it.

Came in handy when she scored $200 for the iconic last year for opening up an ing account haha

      • +1

what does this even mean? I think OC is very smart and I'm a lady.

    • +1

That's what I've been doing. I've even asked the checkout attendant to split the payment for me and pay for 1c.

  • +2

Telstra hit by another outage day after $250m announcement

    • +1

Might explain why TGG website was down.

      • +1

lots of corporate customers including Jetstar having issues with their websites

    • +1

      which mob running telstra now??

      • surely no one will own up to running Telstra, given their performance lately!?

  • +1

Many people complain that they wont hold their promise. I signed up with Coop a few months back and got the membership fee back plus the 5% cashback on PayPass for a few months. I had nothing to complain.

  • sigh, read that as 1x Gold Class ticket per week.

  • How much are Gold class tickets worth?

    • ~$40

  • +3

It should be noted that any booking made for Gold Class may be required to pay a booking fee. I used GC vouchers and had to pay $5 per ticket to book online. I don't think this applies if you just rock up, but if it's a busy movie and you want to plan in advance, you may have to pay a fee.

    • +1

      And get good seats.

  • +4

Gold class will make their money back off you and then some when you order any single item.

It was over $5 for a small servicing of shoestring fries (think Maccas fries, small size).

    Drinks are even worse.

    • The food is terrible.

I then booked a movie at Hoyts LUX and the food was a lot better.

      • +1

I couldn't afford the food. Costs more than a normal ticket. Only bought anything at all because I didn't want to look not posh enough for Gold Class. The drinks are obviously expensive also.

      • Pretty broad statement to make.

      • If the food at Lux is a lot better I shudder to think what Gold Class is like! I can unequivocally say Lux food is awful value

        • +4

I'm shocked to find ozbargainers that don't sneak their own food in.
