Panasonic LED Bulbs $5ea (GU10/5.3, 350/600/806lm E27, etc) @ BingLee

130

Saw some LED Bulbs on special at BingLee SupaCenta Moore Park.

Was kind of in a hurry so didn't really check every type, saw some 350lm, 600lm, 806lm e27s, and some gu5.3 and gu10s. All $5 each.

I think $5 is a decent price for gu10s from a well-known brand. Bought a few myself.

Can't comment on quality since I haven't tried them yet. But the bigger bulbs were made in Indonesia instead of China if that makes any difference to anyone.

EDIT: Apparently it's not just this store: Link

Buy $300 worth and save a further $50!!! Combined with AMEX OFFER!

    • You should get a total $300+, negotiate down to $300, then use the AMEX offer.
Remember, at Bing Lee, everything is negotiable.(That's what they said)

      • But isnt that paying by cash?

      • Then they give you an offer of $290 :)

        • $290 is not good, because the offer must be $300 or more to get the AMEX $50 cashback

        • @Turd: Yeah I know, but will be funny when the staff comes back and say we'll do it for $290.. and you stand there you know what that's too much discount make it $300… staff starts scratching their head….

        • @hys: That has actually happened to me with an Amex deal, the store reduced it below the threshold so I ended up buying something else :)

Bunnings sell GU10 LED's $5 for a pack of 4. It's a made in China brand 'Click' but they are as good as any other I've used.

    • I bought some warm white Click e27s awhile ago, but the light was really yellow.

I have a mix of mirabella and philips in the house as well (all warm white), and the Click leds's light really stood out weirdly.

They're really good for value though, and I guess it wouldn't be an issue if you don't mix it with other brands.

    • Costco ones are quite good, and its like $15 or so for a pack of 3. Also the Costco ones are brighter i think they are rated at around 500lm 7W or so.
The ones in this post might be slightly too dim for a large area, might be good for a small bedroom though….

350 lumens is pretty dim….okay for a bedside lamp but not for a room.

Look for close to 1000 lumens for a room. That's for BC or ES style globes.

For the MR16 or GU ones - look for 450lumens - Phillips make some good ones.

    • 500-600lm is generally good enough for a bedroom though. But for a study room you'd wanna go higher.
1000lm is pretty damn bright not good for a romantic setting lol.

    • Apparently, there are some 806lm ones for $5 too in other stores.

Didn't see any at Moore Park though, only 350 and 600.

EDIT: Nevermind, saw a 806lm in the photo lol

      • 806 is equal to the old 65 watt so you wouldn't really want less than that.
The others are around 30 watt, prob just enough for a side lamp and that's all.

    • Phillips 1400 lumen globes in my bedrooms and i wouldn't want less

      • Isn't that too bright for bedroom ? I thought most couples want to do that thing in a softer lighting, more romantic atmosphere.

        • If you want romantic lights, just get some lamps. You need a strong light in the bedroom imo.

When I want to see what I'm doing in the room, I need bright light - I agree that 800 lumens minimum is good for this, possibly go over 1000.

If you want romantic setting I doubt you'd want the main room light on anyway? Get a few bedside lamps with 4w LEDs :)

I recently needed to buy a new bedroom light. I went with philips 18w B22. 2000 lumens. $25.00 a pop but by far the best light in the LED range. Super bright!

CFLs dont match. Hate waiting for a globe to actually produce light, philips LEDs are instant!

    • I would have gone for 18w, I've never seen anywhere near me selling them.
Max I've been able to get is 12w.
      Where did you get these?

Is that cool blue or warm white at 2000 lumens

  • Are these dimmable?

  • Strange to read peoples' recommendations on lumens - hugely depends on the shape of the room, ceiling/light height, wall and floor colour, reflective surfaces, usage, eyesight, personal preference. Try a few different lights and work out what you prefer. And install dimmers wherever possible :)

  • No 806's left in City, Moore Park or Alexandria FYI
