Warning: pc.byte sells items on eBay then expects the buyer to wait while their supplier ships the item.

I thought I was alone in being ripped off by pc.byte but it seems at least 4 people here have been ripped off by pc.byte in exactly the same fashion:

Don't believe the high eBay ratings because here's what they do:

  1. Take eBay order.

  2. Make customer wait 3 weeks until their supplier ships the item - note at this point they have your money and you have no goods.

  3. Maybe ships.

Immediately upon ordering they sent a message saying you have to wait until our supplier ships the item meaning they had no intention of shipping by the ETA. They held my money for a month before refunding it. And made me waste my time going through the eBay complaint process.

The high ratings are either past history or gamed, this seller is a scam artist.

  • My experience have been good. Brought 2 items. Anyways.

    • +10

      Have you bought any?

      • They were brought to be bought

  • Well this is why I pay by paypal funded by credit card.

If the seller doesn't send the item purchased, request a refund by paypal. If paypal won't do a refund then do a chargeback on the credit card. That way you'll have at least 2 layers of protection.

  • So the scam is their supplier doesn't ship as fast as the listing indicated?
Or that you thought you were buying an in stock item, but it took longer?

    • +1

They don't actually have it, but they list the item anyway. When you buy it they immediately blame the delay on someone else. In my case the listing was even updated after I bought it to show more in stock - which shouldn't be possible given the circumstances.

There's no mention of the item being dropshipped. In the meantime you've already given them your money. I suppose you could initiate a dispute process with eBay or Paypal, maybe even go to the Police or Fair Trading, but most people won't bother… they'll just wait.

      So pc.byte keep making money.

  • Sorry to hear that Diji , The item I ordered arrived within 5 days, no complaints here.

  • I've been ripped off in exactly the same way by pc.byte. How can this even be legal? Surely selling something that you don't actually have is fraud?

    • How can this even be legal? Surely selling something that you don't actually have is fraud?

only is they don't supply item and refuses to issue a refund.

    • Dropshipping you buy products the seller doesn't actually have. If they stated it's local stock, then they are arses.

  • Mate bought an item during the 20% off sale and I told him to check if they actually had the item to send.
After a lot of back and forth the item still wasn't sent and they were more than happy and quick to cancel the order.

I'm sure they do have a few items in stock but this isn't an isolated incident. They even advertise "get it fast" which requires an express post shipping option and max 1 day handling, so yeah that isn't going to happen on back orders/delayed dropship orders.

If you need it fast I would think twice before ordering.

they didn't have the item in stock so they quickly issued a refund. what's wrong with that?

  • Ordered during CTEC20 edeal, no stock, advised they are waiting for supplier to supply them. Requested order to be cancelled and refund. What a process! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

  • And I'll add to this post bought 32gb ddr4 ram in and a 980ti in the CTEC20 sale. Same MO as above they have to wait on the supplier. I suppose the reason so many of us are pissued off is that we chose this company because they were $20-$50 cheaper had we known that they didn't have stock we would have purchased from a more reputable seller. Not happy Jan.

  • Just hope you never receive a faulty item and need to deal with them.

    Its been a nightmare.

    • +1

      What was faulty?

      • Motherboard

Not their fault but but now over 1 month later I've got no idea whats going on after so many conflicting emails.

        • Same here…. bent pins USB ?….Interested if yours is DOA or similar to mine. In my case, not there fault either, manufacturing is likely

        • @Coops1:

Everything looked good on mine but it wouldn't post. Initially they said they tested it and everything was fine so they were sending it back. I kept requesting a tracking number and got assorted replies then almost a month later they said they were waiting to test it.

Then I stopped even getting replies to my emails.

Did you have better luck dealing with them?

        • @rob74:

Still to send mine back…..will wait and see what happens with the turn around

        • @Coops1:

It will be easier to deal with a warranty claim to the manufacturer.

  • I got one from this offer which took 6 days.

I was pretty happy with the service.

  • yeah i had so many order from PC byte this latest event left a sour taste on my mouth

  • There seems to be a rapid increase in Negative feedback in the last month compared to the same feedback over the last 12 months

4 months later vendor replies on forums post…

      Customer service at it's finest!

  • Six month warranty on a refurb (like new) scooter. I’ll you tube it and fix it myself rather than give them another cent.

Never buying stuff from these guys again. Sent me three defective scooters (bought 5 in total). Freakin scammers, dealing in defective goods and passing them off as ‘refurbished’ when they have done fk all to check they are actually fixed. In actual fact the second two scooters they sent me were both stuffed and I moved all the good parts to one scooter so that I at least had one working unit and then put all the defective parts in the one I sent back. Refurbished MY A$$, I bet they don’t even check these at all. They just buy rejects and sell them off and hope that the unsuspecting buyer won’t bother to speak up.

Ordered on 06/04/2021 and it was playing up well before the six month period, but I did not get around to emailing until 11/10/2021, just FIVE DAYS LATE. Actually I did not even think it was legal to give anything less than a 12 month warranty. Maybe I'll talk to Dept of fair trading to see what recourse I may have through them.
