    • I am still rocking an ATI HD 5850, well… not much rocking actually. I wonder how much faster will a GTX 1070 be? :)

      • Crazy fast. Your CPU will most likely be a bottleneck (and I hope you have an SSD, perhaps inspired from the SSD sales on this site ;) )

        • Yes, CPU is the old venerable Intel I5-750. Will most likely be a bottleneck too and need to go.
I am rocking on a Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB SSD.

  • my workstation is running quad lcd powered by 2x gtx 570 sli. i'm looking to upgrade to hexa lcd. is the gtx 1070 a good choice or can i get away with something less powerful?

You guys are crazy for going for anything but EVGA.

EVGA has a 3-year international, transferrable warranty, whilst providing free return shipping for any warranty issues. None of the other AIB manufacturers (MSI, ASUS, GIGABYTE) cover return shipping; at your own expense you have to pay to ship to Taiwan.

GTX1070 chips aren't binned; so the speed you get going from the cheapest 1070 to the most expensive, 8+6pin card is negligible (1-3%).

If it was up to me, I'd grab the most basic ACX 3.0 ($419.99) and use MSI afterburner to overclock, or buy the SC that's on Amazon now for $439.99.

Your crazy for wanting to spend significant amounts of money insuring a $562 item. Why are you recommending people spend $50 on insuring it? There is almost no chance you will use it.

That is in effect what you are doing.

      • Significant amounts? The EVGA Acx 3.0 model is only $10 US extra and gives you not only 2 Extra years of warranty on an almost $600 item, but also gives you a much better cooler (not a blower style which are loud as hell).

It's your choice I guess, but for me an extra $10 US is totally worth the benefits.

        • Well I don't see the EVGA ACX an extra $10? its an extra $30 USD plus more postage and out of stock.
          $439.99USD + $13.25 Post = $453.24 USD = XE Conversion = $602.142 AUD
          602 - 562 = $40 AU difference.
I would agree with you if it were an extra $10 US, it would be worth it. But its currently $40 ( at time of typing this)

Like I said earlier, its up to the individual to 'draw a line in the sand' and say whats the most I'm willing to pay for GTX 1070.

          Cheers
