So Netflix, but not Stan, Presto, iView, Plex or Kodi?
Definitely no to Kodi etc. No app store, so no stan/presto/plex/etc either.
Netflix yes. Others no.
I have this model and it definitely does have Stan, so don't know what the other posters that have replied to you are thinking of, unless the software didn't originally come with it or something http://imgur.com/a/PnKhZ
Stan wasn't around when this model came out like 3+ years ago, and there was no app store so you couldn't get new apps. Did they push Stan to it in an update?

I seriously believe it's only worth $150 max. That's all I am prepared to pay for it. It does not offer anything hugely compelling over a set top box, a Smart Tv or DLNA devices to warrant such absurd price. I'd sooner buy a console…

Only way to watch EPL this season via Optus Sport app on the big screen is via an Apple TV 4, since Apple TV 3 doesn't support the app!

Nope. Don't even think anyone is actively trying to jailbreak these anymore, though there's really no need to anyway with things like the firetv/shield/nexus player/etc.
ATV3 was never jail broken. Only the ATV1/2
