Samsung 850 EVO 500GB £100.22 (~ $169 AUD) / 1TB £194.03 (~ $327 AUD) SSD Delivered @ Zapals

530

PricePal cashback makes it cheaper than the £184.85 deal posted by lyl only a month ago. Cheapest local stock is $405 @ MSY.

The 500GB is pretty good too as it's $205 from MSY.

Choose GBP as the currency.

Also use either 28 degrees or Citibank to pay for it. I think Bankwest is good too? But not 100% sure.

EDIT: at least 7.5% cash back from PricePal which equates to £7.52 and £14.55. Thus bringing the total spend to be about ~$157AUD for the 500GB and ~$303AUD for the 1TB. Use a random referral if you don't have a PricePal account yet to receive $5 on signup (minimum payout is $20).

Mod: Price after cashback (commission-refunds) removed from title. Cashback tracking, approval and payments are not guaranteed.

Tempted for another 500GB. Bought one recently at $180, and it made my 2012 MacBook Pro like brand new!

does it fit in retina model ? i do not think it will fit in

        • +4

It won't. As these are SATA SSDs.

The Retina model uses PCI-E based SSDs, but the connector is an Apple proprietary connector.

i put a 240gb + 16gb ram in my 2012 macbook (updated to el capitan as well). no more pausing, lagging, etc.

      • Seriously, you won't regret it ;) I already have 16GB RAM. I was just wondering if I can get 32GB RAM in there, and I have another slot for another SSD (since I removed the SuperDrive) :D

    • I hope to do the same thing to my 2011 model with a 1TB drive in the near future. The prices are where I want them to be, just have one or two priorities right now (including a 6-8TB drive for my server).

Crap, just bought one off ebay few days ago with 10% off for $200.

Whats the go with international warranty on Samsung SSDs? Its nice to get it cheap but warranty?

    • Following because I'm also curious about this

    • Pretty sure this will have to be shipped to UK for any warranty claims.

      • at the very top left of the page is where you can change the currency :)

don't forget pricepal cashback too if you're going to proceed!

        • +1

      • I actually find it right at the bottom of the page on the mobile site

        • hmm chrome on my phone doesn't seem to show a mobile version for some reason even though i have request desktop site unticked

anyway can't take advantage of the generous pricepal cashback when using your phone unfortunately

They refund return shipping within 30 days, not sure about after that.

    Faulty products
Please contact us within 30 days. You'll need to let us know the order number, product name and product code. You'll also need to include photos of the defect.

We'll check the returned item and may also contact the manufacturer. If we find it to be faulty, you'll receive a full refund including any delivery charges, or you > > can request a replacement. If you've included more than the faulty item in the same order however, the delivery charge won't be refunded.

    • Paypal should protect you for the return shipping cost if you otherwise don't mind using one of your ~5 claims per year on this.

  • 850 evo better than 750 evo?

    • +1

      My understanding from what I have just read is;

The 750 Evo is a lower cost version of the 850 Evo. The performance is close but it is a cost down version. It has a lower Mean Time Between Failures, and the warranty is 3 years vs 5 years for the 850 Evo.

      • thx

      • 5 years warranty but have to ship to uk? Is it internationally warranty?

        • I don't know I assume it is manufacturers warranty and that they all come from the same factory and they don't care where you bought it or where you have moved to since you bought it.

  • So I have a citibank account, but no money in it, used paypals currency on the pound, came to $176.21, I am okay with an extra $7 fee.

    • +1

hope you remembered pricepal for the cashback.

      • +1

Yep, even though it seems a bit more sketchier than cashrewards I made sure to apply

        • +2

they're certainly not as popular as CR (due to their lower rates) but they have appeared on a fair few deals recently and have reportedly come through

as for the citibank account (although this is too late now but may be useful for future purchases).. if where you're transferring from has Bank@Post facility for free (for eg ING, ME Bank has it but has fees) then you can simply withdraw from that card and deposit straight onto your citibank card at any post office for instant appearance.

        • @CVonC: sounds interesting, thanks

  • Zapals site having issues at the moment ~2:45pm. Slow response and knocked me back on login.

/edit/ as of 3:15pm or so the site has become responsive again. I think I'm going to just get another 250gb. I can't see needing double the capacity of my system drive for an extra ~$70

  • Paid with paypal but I'm hoping that Pricepal will come through. Anyone know how long does it take?

    • "Cashback from any purchase will show as Recorded in your PricePal account within 7 days."

Just what the site says, I have no experience with it.

  • Finally pulled the trigger on a new (500GB) SSD, was tough to survive on my remaining 6GB on my 120GB!

    • +2

      not healthy for your ssd

  • +1

The 850 EVO 1TB SSD shows up as £ 241.59 (~AUD $407) for me. Did they raise the price?

  • +1

It is 124.79 pounds now :(

  • +1

    Deal seems to be over

  • +1

Well the actual zapals special on these Samsung SSDs isn't over: if you use AUD it'll be $201.23 & $389.57 which is what they were. But yeah they've caught onto the GBP thing unfortunately.

    • yeah so its a partial pricing error.

  • Thank you for shopping with Zapals.

Sorry for our late response and late delivery.

Your order was shipped out on Aug 13

The shipping information may not update so prompt, could you please keep your patience and wait for a few more days?

We will keep tracking for you, any news we will inform you asap.

  • Cashback didn't go through.

  • Received my order for 500gb ssd yesterday, got email on monday, was auspost, did not look like it was posted from overseas and works well so far. Did cashback through their chrome toolbar, but probably wont get enough money to get the $50 required.

    • It was posted from overseas. Sender: Startrack intl

In checkout, the nearest post option was malaysia post.

    • You're lucky. I just received the first email in regards to shipping and all it says is "Shipping information received by Australia Post -
      5:35pm Sat 20 Aug "

  • Got mine today in WA… had notification 2 days ago from zapal saying sent but they told me via email it was sent that week we ordered. Says from star track intl in NSW but. You think star track use their own star track delivery.

  • Arrived yesterday, picked up from the post office today and hopefully 'that's all she wrote' for this one

    • nope, we continue on. box is a bit smooshed although nothing is audibly rattling inside which is a good start. weird tape with handwritten number on it, maybe something to do with my order. There's another sticker which is a nice professional looking one although nothing to do with zapals or Samsung. Appears to be intended for a Chinese market based on the stickers on the box.
