(min charge in 1st month $10)

    How is that FREE?

    • +3

1st month minimum charges on TPG no lock-in contract Mobile plans calculated as: $( Mobile monthly charge in first month ) + $10 SIM charge.

That's probably the cost of the SIM.

Watch out on that $19.99 plan, excess data = $100/Gb

    • +8

      Also $11 port out fee

      • +2

yes, and when you port out 3 numbers at once they bill $11 on 3 separate transactions within a short time, which CBA identifies as invalid repeat transactions. Then TPG's website won't let you re-process the transaction, and around in a circle we go.

yeah data is the absolute killer in this plan but has been enough for me mostly because I get connected to work wifi when I step outside home :D otherwise, I think there are better deals for around $30 :)

    • +2

They are prepaid plans though, so you have to put up money for extra charges in advance if you want to go over the allowance.

  • +5

Set up fees, port out costs, excess data costly - avoid.

    • Also Vodafone network - which to be fair is a lot better than it was.. but still is #3

I guess this makes sense if you need the international allowance, don't travel rural much and have data discipline.
Virgin is worth a look if you need to call 'unpopular' counties a lot - that's where I ended up after leaving TPG.

    • Are port out costs even legal?

  • +1

They charge to port your own number out and the 39 dollar plan does not include mms messages

  • +2

THey used to do $10 for first 6 months and first month free is nothing OP

  • +1

TPG is complicated to deal with, excessive in their data charges (excess data = $100/Gb) and out of touch with the monthly plan fees. When you can get unlimited calls and texts for under $20 with most providers, why would anybody pay that much to get limited calls and limited texts? #EpicFail.
