How Turn on LED's Automatically

I've bought this LED kit from Ebay and what i'd like to do is have them automatically turn on when i get home.

Currently i have Tasker to turn on my PC as soon as my phone is connected to WiFi. So that would most likely have to be the trigger.
What I'm thinking is getting something like a USB to DC converter and plug it into my PC. Although, i believe due to the output limitation the LEDs won't be as bright compared to out of the box.

Any and all suggestions are welcome

Thanks in advanced

I just bought some Xiaomi Smart plugs. While they haven't arrived, I will be using them to automatically control heating and lighting. you'll need a phone app to operate them.

You will just have to program tasker somehow to run the app and then send button press to trigger the plugs.

In case you're wondering, they are $12 USD from Aliexpress, and they have the Aussie plug versions.

  • I think USB 2 can only deliver 500ma @ 5 volts which is 2.5 watts so the LED should give you in theory 200 lumens max depending on the quality. Cant you fit a sensor to it?

    • I would then have the problem of turning it off automatically as well. Don't need it on when I sleep

    • ^ This. I have LED installed on top of my kitchen bench to turn on when I walk into the kitchen. Works well. Had to adjust the ambient light brightness level to turn on the motion detector and then I was all set.

      • buy a dimmer or use 9V adapter for softer light.

I used at least 10 at home and around.

        • The sensor I bought had a potentiometer so I could adjust the brightness to dusk so that the motion detector only turns on if it gets dark outside. :)

        • @geek001:

Sorry I misread your sentence, yes most motion sensor have duration and potentiometer.

  • Hi rakkihizoku
Sorry for going off topic, but can you advise how you got Tasker to turn on my PC as soon as my phone is connected to WiFi?
I've looked all over the web and unable to find it.

    • Sorry didn't hit reply. Please see my response below

  • I used an app called Unified Remote Usually goes on sale for cheaper which i find is always posted here.

So i set the profile to if wifi is near my SSID then turn PC on

        • Hi rakkihizoku
Can you please PM me your profile as I am not able to do this - pretty new to Tasker but i can see the potential.
