Netgear Arlo Home Wireless CCTV with 2xSurveillance Camera $360 Delivered @ Futu Online eBay

Folks,

This seems like a relatively good deal, despite Futu selling it for $429 in May (which would have made the 20% off even better)

I am after a wireless CCTV system for the home with tracking alerts.

I'd link a great review to it from Techmoan on YouTube, but I can't at the moment.

It seems like a decent system with motion sensing, ~10m night vision and can be used inside or outside.

I don't believe this unit can record audio, so you'd need the unit with the mic to achieve that.

Another consideration is the way you mount the camera - it can use the standard tripod mount, or it simply attaches via strong magnets - so they can be stolen relatively easily if you place them in an easy to reach area.

Retails for $547 at HN and JB.

  • I am looking at ordering batteries for these for my relatives with delivery to Canada, has anyone got any recommendations for cheaper sources for these?

My first thought would be Amazon, if you're after just the batteries.

    I bought the above.

Ebayed 16x rechargeables from china with charger.

Not too bad. Really enjoy the setup of 2x cameras for under $300.

    • That was such a good deal. Best deal in recent memory is $320 including two cameras also from Good Guys so this deal is ok.

I bought Nitecore rechargeables from https://www.fasttech.com/search?nitecore

I have the Nitecore rechargeables + Nitecore D4 charger, and they work well. You need to be VERY patient with FastTech though, because they are anything but fast. My package (Nitecore D4) took 10 weeks to get here via Sweden (and possible somewhere in outer space). I got my batteries from Gearbest for US$2.50 each but they have not had stock for months now.

Very few places will post these airfreight (or at all) now. In north America (US to Canada) it should be easier because going by road is less of a problem than air.

Just be cautious about which rechargeable batteries - get only batteries with protection PCB and check the length - anything more than 35mm will not fit in Arlo. Give any of the cheap eBay batteries that claim anything more than 800mAh (like 2300mAh, 2500mAh etc) a miss because they are not protected and the capacity (according to tests done by people) is closer to 300mAh. There is a long and informative thread on the Arlo forums about batteries.

    • Didn't see that and wasn't after one back then! Oh well!
