Does it allow you to put in the code after Committing to buy?

    • +1

No. Take a further 20% off this price using code CSUN20 at the checkout for a final price of $575.20 not when you commit to buy.

I see. There is no option to add to cart and go to checkout. That is odd!!

      • So what you're saying is, it doesn't let you put the code in after committing to buy? Because I can't see anywhere to put it before hitting commit to buy..

        • It says in the description though about the code so I'd imagine once you commit it'll let you put it in once it goes live

        • @cyrax83:

That's my question though, just curious as they may have just ripped the description from somewhere else.

Just being cautious for others sake, I ain't buying one :)

        • @XeKToReX:
Use the desktop site not the ebay app. I had the problem when purchasing my cpu

        • @XeKToReX: I'm gonna wait till it goes live and see what happens.

        • +1

          @lindendwightt:

          Yep, using desktop

        • +2

Commit to buy -> Pay now -> Select Paypal -> Login to paypal -> Enter the code at the bottom of page -> Continue and pay button on right

It will give you the $719 price for a few screens so it is confusing, but ultimately it'll let you put the code in and subtract the discount on the same page you log in to Paypal.

  • Is this worth buying now if wanting to build new for Kaby Lake (assume 1-2 months)?
Is Leadtek the one to get? NFI what Founders Edition is

    • +1
      1. No. Who knows what prices will do + eBay sales are becoming more frequent.
      2. Probably not, Founders Edition is reference card.
    • +2

Isn't Kaby Lake desktop next year?

    • Is this worth buying now if wanting to build new for Kaby Lake (assume 1-2 months)?

No, prices are still dropping as demand decreases after the release of this generation of cards.

Is Leadtek the one to get? NFI what Founders Edition is

Ignore the names, that is marketing and meaningless.

You want to look at price and overclocked speeds of GPU and RAM.

      • +5

Ignore the names, that is marketing and meaningless.

Not in this case. Founder's edition cards run hotter and tend to throttle more than the custom cooler models. No one should buy them unless you need a reference PCB for watercooling purposes.

Have a good group buy for a 1080 and I'll bite

    • +1

For a great price, count me in.

  • +1

If only they'd ship to NZ as well, heaps here would get onboard too

  • +2

Deal is live! Just grabbed an EVGA SC :)

  • Anyone know if this particular MSI GTX 1070 Gaming has the backplate??

Note: It's not the Gaming X, its just the "Gaming" model, where the only difference I can see between this and the Gamiing X model are the X has higher clocks out of the box.

Reason I ask is 2 things.
    1. There was a mention on Guru3D that other than the clock difference between the two cards, the Non-X (this one being sold in this deal) has no backplate.

    1. The MSI website shows pics of both the GTX 1070 Gaming and GTX 1070 Gaming X, and oddly enough on the Non-X model it does not show any pics of the back, where as on the Gaming-X model it does show the back housing a nice looking backplate.
    • I read on a forum it did have the backplate…pretty sure it was reddit

      • +1

You would think so, all the gaming cards do. I'd be very surprised and pi$$ed if I bought it and it didn't.

        • @unleashthepain:

Thanks mate, it seems someone else perhaps got throw off by what was said in the Guru3D review of the "Gaming Z" (yes they have a Z model too).

        • @TilacVIP:

Yeah I seen that as well. Was worried cause I was about to buy the MSI one. This is a relief. They need to be more clear with things like that. There's not much info on the non X version

        • @unleashthepain:

Is there a particular reason why you prefer the MSI over the EVGA. Can't decide. Thx.

        • @Jase2801:

Na man, just cause my case is black and red tbh haha.
The Evga has slightly hight clock speeds but once you OC msi you'll be matching the cards above these

        • @unleashthepain: Thanks sounds good. I might go the MSI too for the same reason.

    • I have one and it has a backplate but doesn't have rgb lighting like the other versions. Just a white msi on the side and red highlights

  • +1

    Awesome deal - thanks guys.

Picked up the MSI Gaming with it's extra power phase and connector

  • +1

    Thanks bought one!

  • Bloody hell, why do i keep looking up 1070 GPU deals even though I've just bought one… It's making me feel shit about my purchase :(

    • You sound like you need a 28 degrees card :)

I just bought the MSI card on Sunday for $590, looks like I can already claim a price reduction :P

  • Apologies in advance if it is mentioned somewhere in the nested post however would anyone know what is the warranty duration and claims process just in case DOA or if it dies down the track?
Normally these should come with a 3 year warranty.
    Regards

  • Is the msi better to overclock than the evga? Some people are mentioning the msi has an extra power phase and connector.

    • It's hard to say. In theory extra power phases is supposed to give you a more stable overclock and better longevity, but i don't think anyone really knows if it actually makes an impact or not.

With GPU boost, cards will often overclock itself past the advertised rate depending on temp and power targets. Having said that, the MSI card definitely has the better cooler (larger fans and beefier heatsink).

Having own an EVGa 1070 FTW, I've noticed that EVGA FTW and SC cards give you 112% power limit, while the MSI card might give you 120-126% (I say might because i know that it is true for the Gaming X card, not too sure about this one). When it comes to overclocking, the more voltage you have the more headroom you have to overclock, so if OC is what you care about, personally would be leaning towards the MSI even though EVGa has a slightly higher advertised boost clock.

      • Apparently the cards have a voltage lock though. Implemented by Nvidia as part of the card BIOS. Pretty disappointing.

See here for more info: http://www.overclock.net/t/1605348/bios-hardware-voltage-loc…

Surely should be able to overcome this with a custom BIOS though? I guess if it's hardware-locked then that's not really possible.

        • Yeah it is, i quite enjoy playing with the overclocks (coming from a 7950 where you had so much room to OC). But i heard the cap was 1.09? Mine doesnt seem to ever go past 1.05v even after maxing out all the sliders, usually hovers at 1.043v. I'm guessing that a card that has higher power limits would be able to go closer to the cap, you have an MSI card right? Does it ever go past 1.05v when you increase the power limit above 120%?

        • @Hunga: Yeah I do. Will have to test this. There's also the voltage slider in Afterburner, unsure if this has any effect. I thought I had a nice OC going (2100 core, 8500 memory) but started to get display driver crashes so will need to revisit that.

        • @fLaMePrO: In my limited testing the voltage never passes 1.09V and rarely passes 1.081V, usually hovering around 1.04V. I noticed with 112% power limit my MSI Gaming wouldn't go past 100% power but with 126% it hits 105% in WoW.

  • ok so which one is the best option. MSI or EVGA or Leadtek?

    • EVGA is better for me. It come with white LED too.

    • EVGA is clocked better and has great warranty. Also not as tall. However I read more reports of coil whine.

MSI has the ram lottery but that shouldn't matter unless you go crazy with overclocking.

      • Warranty is the same though, right? 3 years apiece.

        • I actually have no idea. The EVGA is gone so hoping MSI have 3 years too!

  • +1

Tempting.. but hoping the price will go down before Battlefield 1 comes out on October 21st - Or a bundle comes out.

    • Me and you both. Waiting game begins

      • No cut by the RBA, the dollar has strengthened, and very likely there will be more discounts on Amazon / newegg so every chance you can get it cheaper very soon via those 2 stores, but the downside of course is warranty, in the unlikely event your card dies. Just more stuffing around sending it back to the States.

  • +2

My wallet hates you OP! ;)

MSI Gaming for me: cooler is apparently very quiet and an extra power connector makes me believe it could clock better (although in practice it's probably negligible).

    • +1

I'm still undecided on this or the Gaming X model for $30 more. /o\

      • OK, decided on the 8X model for $30 more. In the unlikely event that the standard is binned stuff.

  • +1

Thanks OP, just bought an EVGA SC… have been waiting for a sub $600 deal and shipped from within Australia, awesome. Can confirm I had to "Commit to Buy" before entering the CSUN20 code during PayPal checkout.

Went with the EVGA as need a low profile card for Air 240 case… and have an EVGA 780 which has been awesome.

    Cheers

  • +1

EVGA is sold out FYI (I got the last one :D)

    • Nice. I was umming and aaring but I read it had more coil whine than the others so decided to leave the last one just for you. :P

Let me know how the card goes.

      • +2

I'm running a Q6600 overclocked at 4ghz on air. Unless the 1070 comes with a loudspeaker, no sound could be louder then my CPU fan.

        • Haha. I'm sure they'll be fine. I had a bad experience with my last card and coil whine though. It's a more annoying sound since it's so high pitched.

  • +1

    FYI

    mine arrived today (MSI)

    installed

    blissfully quite :)

  • hmm want a MSI Gaming X though
