Planning on taking the fiancee to South Africa (Johannesburg) in Feb next year. Looking at flights and just want input as to best flight company (want to fly direct) and what is a good price!

Yes only Qantas flies direct from SYD to JNB. The OP's location says "Sydney".
Looks like Etihad will do it for $1200 but it will take more than twice as long as flying Qantas direct.
Hopefully Qantas will have a sale?
Peak price is usually up to 2200. If you can get 1600 give or take for peak or near peak it's good.
Not sure about off peak. I've usually flown around peak time with Emirates or Singapore via Asia.
I use the skyscanner website to check prices.
Direct? Well, depending on which city you're leaving from, that would only be Qantas or South African.
