Anybody Have Any Tips on Buying from International Xbox Stores?

I constantly see things cheaper from overseas stores and would like to just buy from them. I've tried adding a new account with a fake address on my current Visa cards but that doesn't seem to work. I think you can buy credits from places like G2A but the stores I see are Russia, Argentina, Canada, South Africa to name a few that are constantly cheaper and I don't really want to be buying all those different currencies.

I know there are virtual debit cards which may be able to work but haven't looked into them too much, seems like a lot of fees.

Does anybody do this? I would love to know how you do it. For example right now the Arkham Knight season pass is $20 AUD on the Canadian store and $60 on the Australian store.. Really a no brainer which one I would prefer to buy, not sure if I want to buy that specifically right now but it is an example of the huge savings that can be had.

You gotta buy Microsoft Credit / Vouchers, you can only get them for certain stores, I've personally used Russia, Singapore and USA. (USA gift card link: https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Xbox-Di…)

Just fill out your details with the address and phone number for a hotel (pick one in a state with no extra sales tax, Alaska I think?)

    go onto the xbox website

load up your account with the code you get given, there should be a "redeem code" option somewhere

make sure you change locale to USA (or wherever)

Find the game, click buy, and in payment options, there should be an option for the pre loaded credit

    • Thanks! I had been trying in the past to do it without the gift card and I constantly got errors. I went through the Brazilian site which was a bit confusing with the Portuguese but everything worked and I managed to save some money, currently downloading so I would say it was a successful test. May have been hit with a tax without realising it because Citibank took a bit more than the visa exchange rate site says, oh well still saved.

It would be nice if all the stores went in $1 increments like the US site does, I'll have to keep that in mind for future purchases. Thank you.

      • No problem, its a bit of mucking around, but totally worth it with the ridiculous prices we get over here!
You might already know it, but this site is pretty handy for finding the best price: http://digitalgamesprices.com/

        Enjoy!

  • Any concerns regarding buying with different credit cards? I have Paypal but I have access to a Commonwealth Mastercard Debit Card and a CUA/Credit Union Australia Visa Debit.

  • This is something I bookmarked a while ago, never tried it myself. It does recommend using a VPN before purchasing as YMMV depending on your ISP:
