  • Last time we had to cut it short due to high demand

So you stopped the sale and put the prices up ?

    • +1

Yes, stopped the sale seeing that we were swamped with orders and couldn't cope :-) But, think even our regular price is about the cheapest in Oz!

      • Yes

        That is very unOZBargainish….

        • +1

Sorry, was my very first post as an OzBargain noob. Did not expect the amount of orders.

  • I have to rebuy some filament as I accidentally ordered ABS last time :/

    • +2

      thanks for sharing…

      • Postage was quick and got exactly what I ordered so have confidence in ordering again.

        • +1

is this time ABS again ?

        • This deal is for ABS and PLA. ABS is $19, PLA is $20

        • +2

@dlovep: Oh bugger I just bought another kilo of ABS. No I bought PLA this time it's all good.

        • Hi, I can confirm what you ordered if you give me your order number? Or, contact me via "Contact Us" page on site.

        • @bestbay: Sorry, I was just being a smartarse, I ordered the correct filament the second time.

  • I bought from these guys last time. Price is great compared to other options, and the free shipping over $50 makes it better. I got what I ordered and quickly too (ordered last Tuesday, got my order before the weekend - I think it came on Thursday?). I haven't had a chance to try any of the PLA filament yet as I'm still running a near full roll, but I would buy from them again - especially if they get some specialty filament for the right price (I'm specifically looking to try out the wood filament), or I feel confident enough with 3D printing in PLA to give ABS a try.

    • +1

Wood filament is a bit tricky - make sure your head can cope with the harshness from it. ABS is a whole world of hurt and settings, but rewarding once you've done it.

      • Thanks - I was actually thinking about picking up a roll of wood filament and giving it a try, but I might leave it until I'm better versed in PLA printing - learning all the tips and tricks and how to fix issues.

        • +2

I got some bamboo filament from blueprinted.
It's a little harder to print than plain PLA, but not too bad, really.
Needs a bit fine tuning, especially temperature wise.

Clogged my nozzle twice with it, but I've printed almost a whole spool.

  • order placed:)

    • Update: order already shipped today as per tracking

  • Thanks, great deal, just ordered 4 rolls. I wish you posted this yesterday. I bought 1kg of black from EBay yesteday for a lot more.

Are you going to get any glow in the dark filament??

  • +2

Anyone have experience with the quality of this filament? I've been running exclusively on Balco/Cocoon Create/Wanhao stuff seeing they do a 20% discount for .edu email addresses.

Do you guys have any sample packs available to buy? I'd happily pay $30-$40 for a kilo of mixed colours.

I bought 3 rolls during the last sale and have been printing around 5 metres worth in PLA. I can say that you will need to run your extruder much hotter than the preloaded Balco/Cocoon setup. I ran it at 220 extruder and 70 deg bed, with some initial stuttering but flowed ok after a few passes. Raft your model well to avoid this.

Overall this product is good, but I prefer the filament samples given by Balco/Cocoon in the printer package. It's a good price if you print a lot and don't mind playing with printer settings to get a good heat/flow balance.

      • Lauzer - I'm still a bit of a noob and have only played with 2 STL files so far. (Printed two of the standard Balco examples on the card also)

I cut them in Cura, supplied with the Balco printer (thanks OzBargain!!!).

What I can't seem to find is the temperature settings which obviously get stored in the resulting GCODE file.

Whenever I cut a thingiverse STL model, it seems to have it's own temperature settings in the file, no matter what I select on filament type/print quality in the quick print settings.

So I'm happy to take your advice on temperature settings, but do you know how I can set that in Cura? If you don't cool but it sounds like you know quite a bit more about this than me so thought I'd ask.

I think this is one of those: Give a man a fish and he eats a meal… Moments

Ramrunner: Look up YouTube for videos on how to use Cura. Here's a good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDXo2GBmbtU
He goes over all the settings. Although I vaguely remember I didn't use some of the settings he used.

        • @bluechan: All good, you have to be in advanced view to change the temps, otherwise it seems to pick what IT thinks you should be using (195 which sounds a bit low).

Cranked it to 210 in the settings and the printer is following the GCODE so all good. Bit of stringiness so will probably try the next print at 205.

Thanks for your help. The video shows the guy taking it out of quick print settings and getting a bucketload more options on the advanced settings which is what I needed.

    • Where can I find the information for 20% off?

I have a 3d printer fettish. Pls show me some printed awesome pla and abs printouts please please!

id be keen for some reviews on the filament before switching brands

  • Did anyone else receive their filament with bags not intact?
2 of the 4 filaments I ordered had holes in the bags.

I've been trying to work something out with the seller who was initially responsive. He's now gone silent on me.
I won't be buying from this store again.

    • Those holes look pretty small, are you sure it's not simply transport or handling? Does it affect PLA in a negative way?

I'd be more interested in how it prints. When you use it could you let me know if it's any good?

I've been weary and using the 20% discount at Cocooncreate to get my PLA but always on the lookout for cheaper as long as it's quality stuff. Don't know whether bad stuff can hurt the extruder after a while?

      • Both PLA and ABS absorb moisture from the air. That's the reason why all filament are sold sealed in air tight bags with desiccant.

    • Hi, I looked at your photos, and have inspected the bags of over a 100 of the reels we have in stock. Have not found any with "tears" like you reported. It looks like friction during transport might have caused it. Anyway, we have issued you a $25 refund for the torn bags.
