Tanix TX3 Pro Bricked - Need Help

I bought the Tanix TX3 Pro from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257992

After using it for a while, I found it to be rather unresponsive and Kodi crashed on it quite frequently. I decided to update the software on it using the USB Burning Tool. I think I did a boo boo and now it won't even boot. The lights come on, but nothing showing through HDMI.

Does anyone know how I can unbrick it?

Thanks.

  • I'd recommend http://freaktab.com

It's a community mostly dedicated to TV box with active developers, manufacturers and vendors. The S905X would be the appropriate forum to post in.

    • Thanks.. after reading some of the forum posts, I downloaded the official Amlogic Burning tool and went through the installation. It seems to connect for a few seconds and then disconnect but at least it is connecting now. I suspect my cable may be a bit dodgy. I soldered the cable myself. I think I will make the cable shorter and redo the soldering.

  • Ok, I managed to unbrick it. There were pieces of the instructions missing from Geekbuying blog website. If you are on Windows, you need to download the Amlogic USB Flash tool installation file(EXE). I downloaded the files only in RAR format and that was a problem, because the drivers were not installed. When you connect the device to your computer, I held down the reset button then plug in the power supply, then the usb cable, in that order. I am not sure if the outer usb port works, but I used the inner usb port, because when I opened it up and looked at the circuit board, the inner USB port had "Download" written next to it.

    Hope this helps someone.

p/s. When I got the device, my remote presses were not being picked up properly, which prompted the software update. When I opened up the case, the IR receiver was bent slightly away, which could have caused the problem. I bent it back and it seems to be working perfectly now. Finally, kudos to Tanix for actually using a proper Wifi antennae inside. I have seen pictures of other S905X devices that was only soldered to a metal plate. Overall pretty good Android TV box for less than $40.
