Sensational price! What a pity you have to add $200-$300 on the return leg, just to pay UK departure taxes. Wish I could team this one up with the Accor 50% off sale, but the dates don't match. Great post, thank you.

    • Doesnt it say * Flights and fares are subject to availability. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights, or peak periods or days. Fares include airport taxes and charges.

    • UK airport tax is a rip-off, AA is considering open another route to Europe, Orly-Paris airport. Anyone know if Orly airport tax cheaper than London?
The greedy UK government's gonna increase London airport departure tax in November to $85 GBP
      http://blogs.theage.com.au/travel/travellerscheck/2010/03/29…

AA is also flying to Japan in Oct so stay tune for Japan sale :), they are also planning to fly to West & East Coast of USA, Incheon(Seoul), Honolulu (Hawaii) as well. Wow, I love AA waiting for their new routes !!!

        o rly?

unbelievable price. Kuala Lumpur to London is 10 bucks!

    • Sharp where did you check the ticket? its going out tomorrow.

    • where can you find this price mate?

  • Updated the post, there is now a direct link to AirAsia's 48 hour sale page.

    • +3

Cheers for that. Also, unless my maths deceives me, the title should read "Gold Coast to London return for $217"

Gold Coast -> Kuala Lumpur ($56)
      Kuala Lumpur -> Stansted ($10)
      Stansted -> Kuala Lumpur ($130)
Kuala Lumpur -> Gold Coast ($21)

      $56 + $10 + $130 + $21 = $217!!

  • Wow, this deal is pretty crazy good. Full fare details are:

    Fares to Kuala Lumpur:
    - Melbourne from $73
    - Gold Coast from $56
    - Perth from $72
    - London (Stansted) from $130
    - Tianjin from $38
    - Taipei from $26
    - Chengdu from $30
    - Mumbai from $34
    - New Delhi from $54
    - Hangzhou from $45

    Fares from Kuala Lumpur:
    - Melbourne from $27
    - Gold Coast from $21

      Hey OzBargainators -

I've primed and readied Adioso to index the fares smack bang on 2am, so it will let you know which days have all the cheap fares by about 2:20-2:30am tonight. As per usual, just do a broad-date search to find the super cheap ones, ie:
      - http://adioso.com/au/gold-coast-to-kuala-lumpur.html
      - http://adioso.com/au/perth-to-kuala-lumpur.html
      - http://adioso.com/my/kuala-lumpur-to-london.html

      Happy Hunting!

      Fenn.

      • can u do kl to melb and kl to ool pls. thanks.

      • I doubt that your search bot can access AA website to index fare.

      • Good work. Much appreciated.

      • AWESOME! I just saw the bargain and said to a friend of mine what a pity that they're probably sold out before adioso even found them. I was wrong I guess! Thank you so much for adjusting. By the way, we really really love adioso! Aren't booking anything without it usually! One of our favourite websites ever! Million thanks!!! :)

        $269 is the cheapest… can't find any $73 :(

      • As you guys (along with everyone on facebook) have probably realised, this sale seemed to be a bit of a non-event. There seemed to be VERY few (if any) fares available at the advertised prices (at least for long haul) and if there were any, they must have gone in seconds.

Who knows, perhaps AirAsia will release another batch, but for the moment, don't go to the AirAsia site (or Adioso) expecting to find the super cheap flights.

See end of this thread for more comments/etc.

Do those prices include hidden fees, such as the inconvenience fee?

    • you guess

  • Great prices. Does anyone know what time exactly AEST this starts?

    • The page says: "starting from 2am EST or 12.01am WST" - I'm assuming they mean Australian EST (http://www.timeanddate.com/library/abbreviations/timezones/a…) it came from the Australian version of the email. So 2am Melbourne/Sydney as far as I can gather.

      • So just to confirm, that's tonight right? That is, the next time the clock hits 2am

        • technically tomorrow morning

    • sale start at midnight Malaysian time, 00.01 GMT +8, means 2AM AEST GMT+10

just okayed this with my boss, on the off-chance i can get something good! most exciting :O

    • +1

I wish my boss was as cool as yours.

  • $10 to Hangzhou from KL! That is ridiculous!!!
Hope they keep these sales going through to next year when I plan to travel through South East Asia!
    Much love for AA.

From previous years, is anyone aware of whether or not AA puts up many sales for travel in December?

    • usually not. I think that's mostly their so-called embargo period. You know, Xmas, New years, etc… usually no bargain prices. As far as I remeber they're back in February.

  • Great Bargain!!!
Also fenn. Adioso is simply the best!!! well done !
    Where is my passport Maa!

  • im in sydney :(

    • +1

surely, Syd-Melb or Syd-GC can't be that expensive with Jetstar or Virgin? You're still getting a great deal overall even with additional domestic fares

      • or find a cheap tiger fare and get jetstar to price beat their fare (given it's within 1hr of one of their flights. That's how I do it all the time: Tiger prices but jetstar's reliability)

  • Had a quick go on the site..
The drop down menu showing destinations, once you put in Melbourne as the location shows only Kuala Lumpur as a choice.
I want to book to London, so will it offer that as a choice tonight, or do I book KL and then KL-London?
    Unclear…

    • +1

you have to book separately, most people will stay overnight, in case their first flight delay. so they got enough time to catch the next flight.

    • ^ is correct, KUL is Air Asia's home city, and so all flights originating from OOL or MEL need to first stop in KUL before onward travel. You will need to book separate legs. KUL is a nice city, i recommend staying over not just to avoid the potential risk of delay. If you dont want to see the city, you can stay on the cheap near the LCCT (budget) terminal at Tune Hotels (part of the Air Asia group).

  • Cheers

  • I am just wondering how can I fly back?

    • you just book the return flight.

  • just wondering people like adiosofenn and on other sites it mentions flights from:
    Fares from Kuala Lumpur:
    - Melbourne from $27
    - Gold Coast from $21
    - Perth from $23
    - London (Stansted) from $10
    - Tianjin from $10
    - Taipei from $10
    - Chengdu from $10
    - Mumbai from $10
    - New Delhi from $10
    - Hangzhou from $10

but when i went to the air asia website or the link provided it mentions flights from kl to london for $130.am i missing something or going to the wrong link?

    • -1

did u read the original post, when is the promotion start?

    • Yep it's a little confusing - those extra-low return fares you mention are on a 3rd-party site, whereas on AirAsia's own site the return flights are the same as outgoing ($130 for Stansted-KL, etc). We'll only know for sure when the sale commences. Not long now!

  • ahhh crap, i dont know what to. i wanna book to london but already have 2 other hols booked this year and taking a new job …
    ideas anyone??

    • Don't work too hard - take that extra holiday
      It's the Aussie way…

  • I predict an epic meltdown.

Will book go for Gold Coast to Perth - return for $177.

Virgin Blue does the same (albeit via sydney/melbourne instead of KL) for $520 return.

    • We'll see. AirAsia is now hosted on a huge CDN (Akamai) so in theory they should be able to handle the traffic. We'll soon see how it holds up in practice.

      • Didn't they shift host already? The recent sales have already seen timeouts :(

      • was that the case with the recent sale a few weeks back? cos their site bombed for like 3 days.

  • +3

will everyone PLEASE go to bed, I must eliminate my booking competition :P

    • agreed- i'm tired!!!

    • You first dont worry I will book yours for you….

  • BTW, I have to remind you guys, if you fly in November you will have to pay higher Airport Tax from London airport. Greedy UK goverment increase airport tax effective from November 2010.

The current airport tax is GBP 71, new one is GBP 101. 1 GBP ~1.77AUD

  • Im holding out to book for a family friend who hasnt seen her parents in 10 yrs so its a little suprise for her :) i would love to go to KL for a holiday but hubby doesnt want to go :(

  • princess_nik_nak - not sure if hubby is familiar with KL, or for no particular reason just does not want to go. As a frequent visitor to KL, I think its an amazing place. I have friends there so its always nice to see it from the local perspective rather than that of a tourist, but a great city with much to be discovered. Hope all goes well for you.

  • I told him what you said and he said he will go if i booked but its not his ideal place to visit (but we just went to America as he wanted to go) so i think its only fair :)

  • wow. already got the busy page

  • Site's not workin atm

  • was locked and loaded too

  • me three

  • yep. Server crashed already. At 2am, 0 minutes and 14 seconds. Well done AirAsia.

  • sigh, fail website -.-

  • I'm in, but the tix aren't cheap. Trying from 27 Oct to 31 Oct and it's like $900! Stupid air asia.

  • crash again the website.

The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later.
    Reference #6.828fc7a.1276013213.353e41c

  • seems all available ticket 400+

    • Wat. a. scam.

  • I don't see cheap flights too :/

  • think we might be in for a bit of a wait.

  • probably sold out at 12:02 LOL!

    • It's all good, still got 47hr window period to buy the tix :)

  • Check all dates on the sale no specials for KL to london

  • there not cheap!! i cant even find 1 tax only fare!

  • Well Ive got a PER KUL for zero but nothing coming back.

Website is a real disappointment though. I remember 12 months ago you could get on it at any time and book any amount of cheap flights with no problem. It has joined the ranks of Jetstar now. I dont even bother with theirs as the website never functions when a sale is on.

    • What date? I tried for that route, but no free tickets were on offer.

  • I got through and found a $73 MEL-KUL fare on 30 Oct, but that was it.

    • did u run some sql to get this date mate?

      • No, just searched the site like every other schmo :)

  • i cant find any per-kl

  • fail

    • Air Asia is probably laughing at all us suckers.

      • I was kind of expecting less than $100 return from Gold Coast. Oh wells, next sale.

        • That's what the promotion also led me to believe.

  • found MEL-KL, London-KL, but couldn't find the rest. *Sigh, forget it then I also don't really want to go. I'll wait for next sale when AA launch KL-Paris route.

  • what date waslondon to kl?

  • jeez, there must be barely any sale flights
    they used to do heaps

  • blehhhhhhhhhh

  • +1

Server is going slow, but prices are loading up for me. I can't find any completely "free" flights for Melb to KL. I found one way "free" flights on every Fridays in Oct to Nov, but couldn't find a "free return" leg.

Too accustomed to getting all legs on sale. Previous sales have been much better and easier to get sale fares.

  • I found London-KL on 21/10/2010, but didn't book it

  • Orright fellas, I'm out. There was a free per-KL flight on 28th of Oct, for anyone interested. Couldnt get a cheap return flight and that wasnt really the date I was after anyway. Wasted enough time on AA.

  • I haven't been able to find any cheap return flight for KL to Melb

    :S
    Don't think they're doing it

  • no cheap return flight…only free to KL

  • +2

I think AA still make money from these kind of sale. Since the flight is booked separately by each leg, by the time you got one leg of flight, the other leg's sale fare is already sold out. So end up you got stuck and have no choice but buying a non-sale fare for return leg.

  • The special seems to only be fore flights into KL not out of

    • The special seems to only be fore flights into KL not out of

      From Australia you mean?
They list prices from KL to London and Asia in the email.

      • well there facebook page says its only for flights in KL

  • +1

waste of time. Nothing on PER-KL or KL-China. Some cheap seats on the Non-X macau route though.
Maybe if you only want one seat …
Disappointed. I got some good tickets on Tiger in recent years on these sales, but this one is a joke.

  • It has been confirmed by AA
    http://www.facebook.com/AirAsia

AirAsia: "AAX freeseat only applicable for AAX destination to KL, Good luck!"
