    Let the price increases begin…

    • +23

Let the searching for the same item 1,000 times before figuring out if it's cheaper and deciding whether to buy it or not begin.

    • +1

They have already begun due to the 15% off sale

    • +3

      Code should be CUTNPASTE20

      • +7

Had to re-read that once or twice… :/

        • Sorry can't edit. To elaborate with crooked as a barrel of snakes kogan as a retailer, code should be CUTNPASTE.

  • lol just bought something from Bing Lee.

    • +17

      Complain to the ACCC

      • With the 15% off code … I bought something just because my the other item don't have enough $75.

      • +2

        Aren't ACCC toothless tigers anyway?

        • +9

Could a toothless tiger stil kill you? If I imagine myself fighting one it would be pretty epic - assuming they would still be pretty strong.

        • +3

@robb6014: Remember to declaw it first…

        • +2

@robb6014: You'd be fine as long as you can run faster than your wife & mother-in-law. ;)

        • @StewBalls:

Bought something during 10% off and then they have 15% off.

Bought something during 15% off and now they have 20% off……

          What next? 25% off ..?

        • @superforever: 25% off tiger poo…sign me up! ;)

        • +1

Didn't the ACCC take down Steam over their refund policy? Leading to global change in digital sales? I'm honestly asking, but if so, toothless doesn't seem fair. Whether they care that your fridge was overpriced is obviously a different matter.

        • @winterseed: I'm not familiar with this, but I think that may have been the case in the UK - it would be (good) news to me if it was the case here down under as well!

        • +1

@nymerion: I'm pretty sure the Australian federal court case against Valve for not offering refunds on faulty or terrible games is what lead to their current refund policy which I think is universal. Basically when they were compelled to comply with Australian Consumer Law they chose to extend those benefits to the rest of the world too. Google News suggests the ACCC were behind the case but I'm too drunk to verify that.

        • +2

@winterseed: Yes, the ACCC took Valve to Federal Court.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/federal-court-finds-va…

The Federal Court has found that Valve Corporation (Valve), through its online game distribution platform Steam, and its Steam website, engaged in misleading or deceptive conduct and made false or misleading representations to Australian consumers about the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), in proceedings brought by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

      No, a mega-price jacking list. It's a Kogan sale after all…

I hate Dick Smith after they dicked me around for a month after the nutri ninja deal. Their stupid delivery driver (Toll Priority) refused to put the item at the local newsagency even though I called up many, many times and they confirmed that they wouldn't even attempt the delivery more than twice, protocol says to put it in the nearest news agency.

He attempted delivery 5 times before they sent it back without my permission. After another month of dicking around, Dicksmith said they would refund it to me in giftcards. These giftcards arrived a day before they went bankrupt rendering them completely useless.

I would never trust Dick Smith ever again. I hate them with a passion, cost me $200.

      • +7

        Same name, different company, Kogan.

      • +8

        Very sad story

      • +3

He attempted delivery 5 times before they sent it back without my permission.

Why should they need your permission to return it after you failed to accept delivery?

I would never trust Dick Smith ever again. I hate them with a passion, cost me $200.

You cost yourself $200, your loss is because of your failure to ensure someone was there to accept delivery.

And this is totally different company.

        • +1

Why should I need to be there? It's their policy to put it at the newsagency. I lived in an complex with 100 apartments. He needed to call my mobile phone whilst attempting delivery if he wasn't smart enough to find my building and buzz my apartment. There was no other way they could deliver this, they never bothered.

Am I expected to bum around the post boxes 24/7 hoping to bump into the delivery driver? He only ever left 1 I missed you docket. The 5 times is what he claimed.

If Dicksmith could be even slightly faster in their refund I would have had more than just 1 day to try and use my giftcard, they said it has to be mailed to me. I just remembered, here's the kicker!!!! They sent it to my mum's address in ACT because that must have been my address from when I signed up 4 years ago!!!! Why didn't they just send it to my postal address???? I had to drive to my mum's in Canberra (3.5hrs - 1 way), then go to the local newsagency to get it because it required my ID in person to collect.

I also bought a Christmas tree with cash during the period I waited for the giftcards, they said that the $200 of giftcards is an online thing, in store people don't care. Dicksmith also refused to help solve the issue with Toll saying it wasn't their problem and I would need to resolve it myself. Nothing they could do was the attitude, sucked in, thanks for the $200 haha bye bye.

          @IndecentExposure:

Why should I need to be there? It's their policy to put it at the newsagency.

          Absolute rubbish.

He needed to call my mobile phone whilst attempting delivery

          Couriers DO NOT do that.

Am I expected to bum around the post boxes 24/7 hoping to bump into the delivery driver?

You are expected to be available to accept the delivery. If you're not intending to be home, then you should not direct courier deliveries to that address.

I just remembered, here's the kicker!!!! They sent it to my mum's address in ACT because that must have been my address from when I signed up 4 years ago!!!!

So, the beginning of the rave about the apartment and phoning you and you not being home is not even relevant?

The deliver to where every you tell them. They ask you to nominate and. Infirm your delivery address.

It sounds like you are exceptionally confused. In any case, your rants are about a compay that no longer exists and gas ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with deal.

You should save your rants for the forums.

        • -1

@llama: OK, so what you're saying is that the people I have spoken to at Toll Priority are liars as they do not know anything about their jobs by telling me it's their policy to put it at the news agency following the second failed delivery? I don't see how that's any better. I didn't want to turn this into a rant any further than my first comment which I'm sure lots of other Australians feel the same way about having lost hundreds of thousands of dollars to Dicksmith, probably tens of millions if you include shares too.

However, if people are going to make false accusations, then I will feel the need to defend myself and correct their misconceptions. I had someone home 24/7 and never once did they buzz the bell or attempt delivery to the door. My comment about ringing me is only if he was too incompetent to find the door bell. If he can find the door bell then there's no need to call me.

No you're wrong again. They delivered the item to my NSW address as stated on the order duh!? They sent the giftcards to the old address in the ACT which doesn't make sense.

Unfortunately I bought giftcards from the Woolworths downstairs because they were offering $10 off $100 dicksmith giftcards. I bought $200 worth specifically for this purchase, thus why they refunded it in giftcards.

This also rendered me ineligible for the Woolworth giftcard refunds because my ones were used and Dicksmith issued new ones that were useless but Woolworths obviously didn't care about that. ME bank said that they wouldn't do any chargebacks on giftcards.

        • +1

so what you're saying is that the people I have spoken to at Toll Priority are liars as they do not know anything about their jobs by telling me it's their policy to put it at the news agency following the second failed delivery?

Yep. And the proof is that they didn't put it at the newsagency, did they?

No you're wrong again. They delivered the item to my NSW address as stated on the order duh!?

Oh, sorry - previously you said that they didn't deliver.

They sent the giftcards to the old address in the ACT which doesn't make sense

It does make sense when you consider that they could not deliver to the address you originally stipulated. So they delivered to your HOME address.

If you moved from Canberra to Sydney, why didn't you update your account address?

Oh, and why did you drive 300km both ways to collect something that could be posted for under $1?

Unfortunately I bought giftcards from the Woolworths downstairs because they were offering $10 off $100 dicksmith giftcards. I bought $200 worth specifically for this purchase, thus why they refunded it in giftcards.

There is no way in the world that ANY courier would leave a $200 item without a signature.

Next time you will learn that couriers do not deliver to multi-story apartments. They don't make phonecalls and they don't climb stairs and they don't leave valuable items with random shops on the offchance that the addressee will accidentally walk in there and pick up the item.

You need a better way of accepting deliveries. And you shouldn't use Giftcards if you want "buyer protection" when purchasing online - they are intended for use in Stores in person.

Anyway, none of that has ANYTHING to do with this deal, nor the "DIck Smith" that is actually Kogan.

      • +2

Looks you are talking about a different company. That DickSmith has said goodbye to the people this planet months ago, where have you been?
        Only got worse though.

      • PayPal claim ?

      • If I'm you I will call up my credit card issuer and back charge them. Just say you ordered the product but they sent you an useless plastic card.

      What a bargain ;)

    • +1

save it in your cart. At least if they jack up the price, you'll still be getting a notification from eBay of the price increased and then you can show it to ACCC

      • ACCC is pretty toothless anyway.

Dont know what ill do with the 7 washing machines i already got. Theres not enough clothing deals on ozbargain.

  • Does dicksmithau eBay provide you with Tax invoice?

    • No.

      • if its over $1,000 they will provide tax invoice with GST.

        Cheers

        • -2

if its over $1,000 they will provide tax invoice with GST

          ROFL yeah sure LOL

In order to issue you with a Tax Invoice, the company has to be registered to collect GST and have charged you for it.

And that ain't happening on a grey import that YOU have imported from overseas.

The Dick Smith AU eBay store Product listing states the offer or and/or supplier of each Product. Products which are offered and supplied by Dick Smith are referred to herein as DS Products.

Products which are offered and supplied by Dick Smith Electronics are referred to herein as DSE Products

Products and services which are offered and supplied by Kogan Mobile Australia Pty Ltd as agent for Vodafone Hutchison Australia Pty Ltd are referred to herein as Kogan Mobile Products.

It is important to note that different Terms and Conditions apply in respect of Orders for DS Products and DSE Products. Where you place an Order for DSE Products to be delivered outside of Hong Kong, you will be the importer of the DSE Products into Your jurisdiction.

The Macbook Air listings that u saw vlearly state that they are DSE sales. So you will need to be paying import duty etc, and there certaonly won't be any Tax Invoices for you.

          @llama:

What nincompoop has Negged me for my post above?

I have copy/pasted straight from the Ebay Listing and DickSmith Terms of Sale.

It's not my fault that what's written on those pages is not what some people wanted to see.

        • -1

          @llama:

You've been around since 2010. Why are you surprised? (I just upvoted you)

      • Is this true? Was planning to get something and claim TRS

        • I called and confirmed before pulling the trigger on a macbook air. Will update you when I actually received it.

        • @cintamami: Hope its true. But i also understand that dicksmith is operated by Kogan and its no more operated as Australian business for Warranty purpose. So i don't think they will provide invoice. But good luck.

        • @cintamami:

I called and confirmed before pulling the trigger on a macbook air.

I think you should read my post above ame more importantly the TERMS OF SALE.

I think that you have allowed yourself to be mislead. What is shown in writing is what counts, not some alleged phonecall to some 3rd world call centre operstor who probably doesn't even pay tax let alone know what GST or a Tax Invoice is.

Read the listimg and Terms Of Sale.
