How much for the coke ?

  • +2

according to the thumbnail, this SIM card contains 24 cans of Coca Cola?

  • +3

No idea why the coke is there, but its $14 at Coles if anyone needs it.😀

  • can i use credit in this sim for recharge?

    • No

    • +2

You can try asking for a sim replacement. I did that with 2 of the $10 sims i.e. added credit from one to the other. The entire process took over a day and cost me a lot of time in Optus chat. (4 hours to activate my foot). If I hadn't chased it, I'd still have to deal with a useless chat operator. Only worth it if you really want to keep the number.

Kinda. You'd need to go thru live chat and and tell them you've bought a starter kit and want to do a SIM swap / replacement. I did the same thing and everything was done including the swap in less than ten minutes. Credit from the starter pack was applied

I did it in a brick and motar shop. Just tell them you want bring a number onto the new SIM. Was less than 10 mins for me too.

To me these are just normal selling prices, waiting for the good old $$1 sim Sale. optus has been a pretty crap network experience for me, same for Amaysim which is also with optus I believe

Just finished at Coles 2 weeks ago. Adequate supplies during that period. It's not hard to get it.

  • How much data I can get with this pack ?

    • +1

3GB with an expiry of 28 days

      • Thanks .

      • 3GB deal ends 30/10/16. then will (probably) go back to 2GB

        • There may be the same or similar offer that replaces it.

  • +1

You can also order for $10 online through the Optus website. Although it's limited to 1 sim and the deal ends in 4 days.

I kinda miss $5 or less starter packs :/

    • +1

      mee tooooooo

      • +1

        Me too!.

    • Mine are expiring soon, need to activate. Too bad I only bought a handful

  • Premium SMS?

  • Was told by a Coles staff that these SIMs will now have to be activated within 4 week or so of purchase (& it looks like they can now be individually tracked through their barcodes). Be warned.

    • Last one I got had expiry date Feb 2018

      • Was told that's irrespective of the expiry date printed on the package

        • Well too bad for Optus that it doesn't work that way.

Coles staff wouldn't know Arthur from Martha.

Coles Staff <— there's your problem right there

      • Was previously also told something similar about starter packs bought directly from Optus store (which they had been able to track individually) so there seems to be some credibility in the story.
I'm not saying if they're right / wrong (I haven't been able to proof it definitely one way or another) but I'm just trying to warn people about what might be an adverse change.

        • I was told similar from staff but activated fine 2 months later…. Sometimes the staff are playing Chinese whispers.

Was probably related to a bonus data offer at the time?

        • @tonsta:

I went to coles and asked the question. Staff seems to think they are pre-activated.

Optus sales rep in the Optus shop says otherwise.

I think I trust the sales rep more.

That doesn't even make sense, you can't put an expiry date on something but expire it at another date. Maybe they are thinking of recharge vouchers? Would suck if they did do this.
Does anyone know if this can be used for prepaid long expiry option?

    • From what I previously heard from an Optus staff, apparently they could "force activate" a starter SIM they sell if it's not activated within a certain period after purchase. (Again, I don't know about all the details on how they might do that.) This requires the sale of each starter SIM to be individually traceable (which is, & has been, possible for those bought directly from Optus).

        yawn

      • Haven't had a problem with Optus yet, but with some Amaysim SIMs that I had ordered online, they were like you said force activated.

I guess keep your receipts handy.

apparently they could "force activate" a starter SIM they sell if it's not activated

I highly doubt that. Due to legislation, nobody can activate a SIM in Australia without a verified name and address, which Woolworths wouldn't be able to do.
Even if you bought a SIM online, there's nothing to stop you from having one sent to a fake name/address. This wouldn't be sufficient to satisfy the legislative requirement.

I'd say more likely is that the SIM has a built-in expiry date which doesn't take effect until it's activated, ie. you don't know the credit's all gone until you try to use it.

  • Woolworths is a bit slow. Coles has this deal going a few weeks ago. Got one from Coles for $10 back during that time.

Only thing i don't like about Optus is that the 3G internet speeds (only got a 3G mobile phone) are very slow here even way slower than what Vodafone was and get constant connection dropouts. I can only get a G connection while browsing internet, on Vodafone i was getting H and was running a lot faster. At some places like here the Optus signal is bad and gets worse at night. I should have just stayed with Vodafone.

    • They trade deals all the time.

      • Yeah. Next week it could be another supermarket or department store with the same deal.

Actually Officeworks is doing the same deal for this Optus $30 sim right now.

So if the local Woolworths has sold out, then try Officeworks if it's nearby.
