  • Surely you could just purchase a Dual Shock 4 controller which is supported under Windows and on the PS4, presumably Android (Bluetooth?) giving you more flexibility.

Alternatively the newer Xbox One controllers are Bluetooth also, so you get Windows, Xbox and potentially Android there as well, plus the Microsoft ones do Directinput and Xinput or some sillyness (??) whereas DS4 only does Xinput (or vice versa) and requires a wrapper to do the other.

Either way, both consoles have new model controllers out which should work well in the very least on a PC too and quite likely Android.
    (sorry OP)

    • DS4:
Android - All kinds of pairing issues and input lag reported on Google for Bluetooth.
Windows (no adaptor) - Unofficial third-party software required.
Windows (official) - Requires the purchase of an additional adaptor and doesn't connect via Internal Bluetooth (problem for laptop/tablet owners). Haven't seen Sony confirm Xinput is supported, so may only be compatible with Sony's PS streaming service.

Xbox One: No support via Bluetooth on Android.

Microsoft ones do Directinput and Xinput

MS controllers have been Xinput only for the last decade.

      • New XBO controllers have Bluetooth

        • Bluetooth only works on Windows 10 Anniversary

        • New XBO controllers have Bluetooth

Where did I say it didn't?

        • @futaris: I find that very hard to believe? Bluetooth is Bluetooth…?

        • @hamwhisperer:

Bluetooth a just a connection. The data sent over that connection isn't necessarily standard.

        • @PainToad: So the driver for the device is the issue? No Windows 7 driver for the controller - actually he's right, I forgot about that, even the cabled version.
I'm surprised no one has pulled the driver out of Win10 and put it into Win7 yet

    • As PainToad says, you can't use DS4 with Gear VR. I have a DS4 just for PC gaming, but I had to buy a Moga Hero for my Gear VR. Tempted to get this Stratus as it is a great price, but I don't use it enough to justify it.

      • I use SixAxis on a rooted phone and it works. The buttons are in a different order though.

        • SixAxis

Which took around 12 months to be updated to work on Marshmallow. Far from ideal support.

        • Oh yeah, I forgot about rooted phones. I am too scared to even login to XDA-Developers on my S7 Edge, lest I blow the e-fuse.

Good thing as well, I have already had two of them replaced under warranty in the past six weeks.

      • That sucks! But glad to know. Is it an Android driver issue?

  • I am not sure about the WiiU Pro controller, I know on the surface you have the muck about ann replace the BT stack with one from Toshiba to get it to work, Not sure if it works with 'droid.

I was looking for something like this that I can use on my Surface 3 Pro with MAME.

  • Screw paying that much. ps4 controller and $5 bluetooth usb off ebay much better.
Been useing it for the last 6 months.
    Mainly for rocket league.

    • I'm thinking to get one as well, forplayin emulators on android and other games.
Following your setup, how much is that and will it universally work on any games on android phones?

      • who plays games with a controller on android? lol
last time i tried literally No games worked properly.

        • When did you last try? 2011? Lots of Android games have built in support for controllers.

        • @PainToad: Right. But most don't…

  • I applaud this controller for being like an xbox controller but HAVING THE ANALOGUE STICKS IN LINE WITH EACH OTHER!

MS did it that way when they entered the market so that they weren't being a sony clone (IMHO). But it's horrific. And its why I prefer my PS4.. just due to the controller!

PS - not a fanboy. Own all consoles.

    • IMHO MS did that because it's much more ergonomical. The left stck gets used much more than the d-pad, and MS positioning means less extended thumb.
