Insurance for Temporary Resident (3 Years TR) to Travel to Fiji and USA

Hi there,

I've been in Australia for 5 years now and under a 457 visa for the past 3 years.
As I am not officially a resident of EU and not a Permanent resident of Australia (and therefore I do not have medicare) I am struggling to find an insurance that will cover me for my travel to Fiji and USA coming next week.
As anybody been in that situation ?
Any help or advise for an insurance that will cover me is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

  • You may want to try this site:

Even if you had a Medicare it doesn't cover any medical expenses in USA or Fiji, although it would cover you for countries with a reciprocal health care agreement. But I understand it does mean you can take up a cheaper policy that covers permanent residents.

  • Wouldn't you just get normal travel insurance for this?

    • Hi there, the thing is I am not a permanent Australian Resident and therefore I do not qualify as "permanent resident" to apply for a normal travel insurance.

      • I believe Bupa do good global insurance. look them up or call them and explain your situation. Perhaps also look at providers from your home country - surely wherever you currently have citizenship should be able to provide you with a product.
