Got this last time… highly recommended.

The bucket works well, as does the sponge.

    • I've heard the buckets are a bit soft.

      • Thin plastic used for buckets, inconsistent thickness

Got this last time… but still haven't cleaned my bomb in months.

  • why dont they, at the same time as this deal, have a sale on car washing stuff too???

8L Oil drain pan is also $2.95,

This makes an awesome bed pan !!!

    • great for frying stuff!

    • Doubles as a hat

    • you must have a big bum!

      • ….nah. its more about the volume required for jv's aforementioned duties :D

Swirl inducing! You need a microfibre wash mitt or sponge plus buckets with grit guards :)

    • I was thinking of giving my car a serious clean. With good products that don't break the b an k, just like what you mentioned here plus with wax and clay. Can anyone please recommend anything as Big W and K Mart don't seem to have any.

      • +6

Is there any particular type of product you are chancing? Claying and waxing are 2 seperate processes which have a polishing step between.

        This is some suggestions

Grit guard - they fit nice in Kmarts 20L fishing basket

Regular Wash - Optimum, Bowden's, Meguiars

Rinseless Wash - Optimum No Rinse (ONR) but my fave is Wolfgang Uber Rinseless (poor suggestion as hard to find here)

Spray wax - Optimum or Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax. Opt for durability, Megs for ease of use.

Clay Bar or mitt - Ali Express

Clay Lube - ONR or just use shampoo from wash buckets

        Glass Cleaner - Meguiars

Wheel cleaner - left over bucket shampoo

Microfibre towels - local offerings are too expensive for quality. I import my own (again not particular helpful)

If you continue detailing in the future consider replacing with bulk 3.8L products and concentrates from same brands. Particularly if have someone to go halves with

        • If you have a costco membership I got a pack of microfibres from there dirt cheap

        • @engineeringprof:

The yellow ones are great value. They are a Chinese microfibre. Just keep an eye on the microfibre after a few washes. They quickly become unfit for painted areas. The overlock stitching can also mar soft paints.

        • Beautiful, thank you, this is EXACTLY the guidance that I was looking for!
Thanks so much for writing! I would buy you a beer but for now, here's a miserly +1. Thank you again! Will go look it up, place my order on Ali express, n have a wander around in super cheap.

          @lordra:

cloo listed some great detailing stores. Add ZAS to that list as well

@4agte: thanks! yes i try to retire them after for cleaning floors, shower etc.

        • You can get grit guards from AutoBarn, but you'll need to tie weights to them as they float! They are much cheaper than the branded ones though.

        • @derfel.cadarn:

The copycat sounds useless. Spend a few dollars more and get a genuine Grit Guard. They don't float and you can consider the washboard attachment down the track.

Finding Grit Guards in SA is difficult. Anyone from Adelaide wanting one, pm me.

Try getting some stuff from Waxit, Detail Central, carcareproducts or one of the more specialist car care product stores if you're really serious about it. You can call them for advice too! Note that claying your car needs some serious commitment though and you're likely to induce minor swirl marks in the paint as part of the process.

Otherwise you probably can't go wrong with Bowdens Own products from SuperCheapAuto or even Meguires.

        • Thank you, will have a look at Bowden and Detail Central and the others via the website.

Now I just gotta get a girl to wash my car in a bikini while I recline on the patio and my life will be complete.

    • Retired cabana boy here. I can clean zee pool

    • Thanks for sharing that.

I'm looking at doing my first ever car service soon. Are you able to use one funnel to put, say, oil in & then transmission fluid or is this a no no? Do you need 1 funnel for each liquid?

      Thanks.

      • Couldn't you just wash and dry the funnel between uses?

Also wouldn't expect you need a funnel for oil, you could just pour in as it's usual quite accessible.

Transmission fluid doesn't require changing that often I don't think.

        • No idea, but I would have thought it hard to wash grease from the inside a long ribbed tube.

  • How to become club plus member?

  • Im sa gettin me a wash.

  • @4agte

Where do you import your microfiber cloths from? Any good suggestions welcome. Good microfiber cloths are too expensive in Oz.

    • Congrats on your first comment! You should click on the reply button under their comment as they won't get notified otherwise.
My mum bought a box full from Norwex microfiber towels today, really good quality but quite expensive. I've bought a few from aliexpress though they haven't arrived yet so can't comment on the quality, I bought them for $1 each.

      • Thanks for the reply shapers. However $1 for towel is quite expensive as you can buy them for less than that at Kmart. Unless the cloths are big size super thick. What size are the cloths that you ordered?

        • Oops I meant to say I'm not buying regular towels but the mitts, couldn't find them cheaper than 90c at the time

    • +1

As Shapers stated I would be lucky to see your comment. I buy in bulk as do it through my part time business. Not a viable option for a home user.

Check out Amazon. They have a pretty good selection.

      • Thanks for the reply. I run a small business and am interested in buying in bulk so any advice on where to buy would be great. I would be happy to buy a few hundred of the cloths. Thanks again.

        • For starters you can try the Kirkland branded microfibre towels at Costco for general purpose use they are great.

I know Waxit has trade accounts if you intend to get waffle weave microfiber towels for drying. Aquatouch ones have been fantastic
          https://www.waxit.com.au/products/aquatouch-waffle-weave-dry…

        • @derfel.cadarn: yep I agree the Aquatouch waffle weave towels are great! Although I use a leaf blower from Bunnings to dry the car now.
