  • So become a prime member and read all ebooks on amazon free ?

    • Yes but it will cost you $99 USD per year or $125 AUD

I usually keep an eye on the one that drop to $0 and buy them. Saying that I have over 1000 books that I still need to read lol

All other prime subscription services need a VPN and will not work with a Australian IP

A new service has been added with prime subscription and Makes prime worth it. I didn't need a VPN to access it on a trial subscription so YMMV

        Interesting

Apparently the ozbargain community didn't see the value in it so probably I over estimated the service addition

          That's what deals are about

        • +1

          @easternculture:

Ah I do love the contradictions. Prime is OK by you if it's in your deal post, not if it's in someone else's.

Perhaps not comment on each others deals

          Happy with that

        • @Spackbace:

I didn't say anything wrong . I didn't mention your name . I didn't say anything about you or bring back old post comments

I'm talking about the service which is totally fine and answering questions

    • Yeah, but you do get Prime Video etc as well (Top Gear!)

    • No, just around 1000 if then if I read correctly. I'm sure there are many thousands for sale.

  • so how does an Ozbargainer get a Prime account for free - anyone?

    • You can't. If you have a USA uni email, you can get amazon student which is 6 months prime for free

There was a work around getting a free uni email from the US but it's been fixed

    • I got offered 6 months free student prime when I was shopping on Amazon, my email address was not US uni email. I have no idea how it happened but during check out, a banner popped out and asked me whether I would like to try student prime for free for 6month, so I just clicked yes and the prime status activated immediately.

      • Interesting . Was this recent ? Does your account have a US address ? Did you have a previous trial sub? Trying to figure out the prerequisites to try and replicate this

        • +1

Pretty recent, approx 2 weeks ago
I have several US addresses listed on my account (from different forwarding services)

I think I have previously tried free prime (not student prime) maybe 2 years ago and cancelled it but my memory could be wrong
I am a uni student here but I've never studied in US universities and Idk why Amazon offered me another student prime trial. Ummm this is kinda creepy

  • hmmm -thanks Easternculture - I wont give up hope tho - where there's an OB'er there's hope, right!?

    • Yes true

There are rumours that prime will be in Australia next year . Guess we will have to wait and see

  • good ..with a nice big opening special (read: free) just for us we hope :)

  • Well right now, you can try out Amazon Prime for free for 30 days. Just make sure to cancel afterwards or you will be charged for a year.
I heard that sometimes you can contact Amazon support if you forgot to cancel and they will refund, but only if they noticed you have not used Amazon Prime at all.

Also, you can link your Twitch account to your Amazon Prime account and unlock Twitch Prime for 30 days. You get ad-free viewing of streams, a free one month subscription to any streamer and you unlock a hero skin for Smite as well as as an alternate hero skin for Priest in Hearthstone, which is Tyrande. I'm all for the skins and supporting Twitch streamers so it's a bonus for me.

  • thank you mrnacho - much of that is another language for me (thank goodness for google) - however, the bit that I DID understand is the 30 days for free. do I need a US email account for that?
