Is the Xiaomi airbook 12" good for $586??

I have desperately wanted a laptop for about 6 months so that I am able to study socially at my uni library and classes, and not be a recluse.

Ideally, I want my laptop to be able to run some light photoshop/illustrator. I'm studying design. But have a good computer at home for heavy rendering.

I'll be able to get windows 10 english installed for free with uni education bonus thing.

Is this deal good value??

I want to purchase this tomorrow, so your opinions would be super appreciated.

Edit1: not having 4k 60hz output is a quite a trade off, bc this i definitely plan to hook this up to my screen at home.

Prepare to add more disappointment to your excitement… You may have been looking at USD pricing. $783.99 AUD.

It's a pretty well reviewed laptop.

Was about to post the same thing about USD. The issue is, that at $800, it's a bit of a big gamble as to warranty/longevity. If your Xiaomi phone breaks, your down $200. If your laptop breaks, that's down nearly a thousand, plus who knows what the warranty service of gear best would be.

It is a nice looking laptop though!

It is great for AU$590…. and its good for AU$800.
The cost of laptops in AUS has risen slowly over the years, despite the cost of components falling.

But not sure if this product is good for you.
    It does make some compromises.
    Judge for yourself.

  • 4Gb and that cpu may be underpowered for your tasks.

Not sure if if it two memory slots and does it take msata/m2?

If I was buying an air, the 13 inch version which is about $200 more has a lot of extra grunt for not a lot extra.

If you want to stick to your budget you might consider this

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/269205

Same CPU, same memory, same SSD size, same screen size, higher screen res.

and just fit in your budget in $AUD

    • And local warranty compared to "sellers warranty" with the Xiaomi.
