Do you have issues when porting numbers (more than you used to)?

Like many I'm assuming I usually change mobile providers on a monthly basis or **less* since I port a number to a burner starter SIM and then immediately port back.

I've noticed I have more and more frustrating issues doing this lately. Either my ID will be rejected during the online process which I can only assume means ASIO pigs are wasting taxpayers money pointlessly making my life harder because they watch every person in the country now.

Or I will recieve confirmation that the port request has been recieved … and then nothing. Who knows why this is

So then I have to go into the store because apparently having a complete stranger enter my ID details is less suspicious than me doing it from my usual location using exactly the same ID details and documents.

Presumably telcos really couldn't give a shit since making it harder to port will mean more chances of a customer staying and paying.

I recently read a comment saying this was happening to another person here. Anyone else?

    Nope never had an issue
Might be just your luck lol

    Done it heaps
    Always been a smooth process

I can't take any one seriously who ports constantly to burner sims and is paranoid that the "pigs" at asio are watching you

Clearly you're up to something if your being checked each time you port, sounds like your up to something no good by the way you word your post and hate for authority

Of course correct me if I am wrong but I have some serious concerns about your situation from reading your post

  • Telstra changed my dob by 1 day. Massive hassles to get it correct again.

    • Not a huge issue to fix
Proof of ID sighted and a stat Dec fixed that kind of thing for me

      • 3 store visits, about 10 phone calls…

        • Telstra :)

    • Had same issue with Optus. Major hassle to be without a phone and have to go in store.

  • They are after you

  • Telstra doesn't like any of my ID, always have to go in store. Vodafone and Optus always accept my ID.

  • Based on my experience, time taken to port a number can vary significantly from telco to telco.

When I did a Voda to Optus port, it took all but 10 seconds to port the number.

When I did my Optus to Amaysim port, Optus cut off my connection at 8am and I could not connect onto Amaysim until 3pm. So, I did not have a working mobile line for 7 hours, which was ridiculous.

So, if your job requires you to be contactable at all times, I would not recommend porting too often.

rookie error. you need to always change networks. moving from one provider to another while staying on the optus network is always a nightmare

What deal do you have that you port so much? I used to do it with Boost half price.

    • Optus $30 starter kits were $10 for 2 weeks, Vodafone $40 sims were half price for a week! Kogan any plan for $4.90 for the first month

  • Yes I am seeing problems with them accepting Id or address details now
    Both optus and telsra

  • I just had an issue with Yomojo (Yotang). After I signed up apparently they can't post a sim out to Darwin. The only reason I found out was because I got the activation email saying the sim was being activated that day and I called them because it had not arrive. I cancelled the plan and everything. I've got it all in writing that I wanted to cancel the port of my number. They still ported my number out without my permission. I've got it all in writing with those Live Chat email. Not happy! I got the sim card cancelled and the number put on hold. What's the point if they can't even give me the service they said they could.
A week later, before I realise all of this, I tried to port the number to another carrier. They told me three times the account number was incorrect. That was the wrong account number I provided to Yomojo. Very interesting!!! How did the number get released then??!!!
