  • Harvey Norman sell greenhouses now?!

$23 postage quote which is reasonable - doesn't seem as nice from the pictures as the Bunnings model though.

    • Big Buys. They sell all kinds of things.

    • Lol, $85 for me.

    • doesn't seem as nice from the pictures as the Bunnings model though

I agree - but the Bunnings one is over 4 times the price.

    Reviews are not good.

"Instructions weren't great. 2 of the supporting upright poles were faulty, the channel where the panels slide into wasn't big enough, had to widen. 2 panel blew out the first night (these panels were not in the poles I widened). I ended up siliconing all the panels in! Not worth the effort."

"Horrible instructions. 2 days worth of construction time. Panels all blew out in recent weather. Would not recommend."

Two gave it five stars based on a month or less of performance.

    • As usual, I guess you get what you pay for. (Edit - the reviews don't appear in my Chrome browser for some reason)

I ordered one a week or so ago, I'll give a review myself when it's together. I was anticipating siliconing the panels in anyway - without the panels will get water ingress.

I bought one of the double door models and just be warned that these are a bastard to put up. Even with 4 people working on it, it still took 2 full days to put up. The instructions are terrible.

It looks good once finished though.

    • The difficult construction is the one constant thing I've been hearing. How did you go with the panel fitting - some reviews say they don't fit properly and blow out. Would you recommend?

      • +4

My panels fit fine. One or two of the panels have come out slightly over the last 6 months and you just need to push them back into place.

Also the arm for the skylight has a design flaw and you can't put it up properly. It didn't bother me though because I installed a automatic window opener anyway. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Solar-Heat-Sensitive-Automatic-Th…)

That auto-opener looks like a great idea.

        • Worth using some silicone to hold the panels in?

I bought one last time and am only getting around to putting it up now.

        • What you guys growing? Herbs? wink wink

Ok now seriously! What you guys growing?

  • I think I'll pass life doesn't need to be that complicated.

Instructions weren't great. 2 of the supporting upright poles were faulty, the channel where the panels slide into wasn't big enough, had to widen. 2 panel blew out the first night (these panels were not in the poles I widened). I ended up siliconing all the panels in! Not worth the effort.

This is a good example of a similar type of greenhouse installation- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXPS4m7zcRw

Except the instructions you get with this greenhouse are much worse and they put it together completely different.

    Cheap accommodation.

  • Just in time for in-laws visit!

  • Keen to hear additional reviews. I would hate having to try and return it if it fell apart in the wind after assembly. I want this to be good but damn it looks flimsy.

    • I ordered one and it's just arrived. I'll be putting it up on Saturday, I'll give a review then.

      • Thanks so much. My fiance and I would love one even if we go to an alternative brand. I am just worried as the only place I have for it is not sheltered from wind…

        • As promised, my partner and I put up the greenhouse on Saturday.

We are still together so it went pretty well I think. It did take the entire day for me, she was there maybe half the time. Don't try putting it up by yourself and not in the wind, as there are some stages when it is very flimsy and prone to fall over under its own weight.

The instructions weren't terrible, but they left something to be desired. There was little confusion, but it did sometimes take a bit of time to figure out what was going on.

I was concerned with how secure it was going to be once it was put up, but it was given a baptism of fire on Sunday, and it was still there this morning. There is no latch on the door which didn't help, and one of the panels came loose from the winds, but otherwise it was fine. I'll be siliconing the panels in when I get a chance, and maybe running some guy ropes for high winds (I always presumed I'd do this, no matter the quality). I think that will solve any future wind problems.

So yes, I'd recommend. A few more screws here and there wouldn't hurt, but you'll need to spend a lot more money to get something much better.

  • All gone?

    • Huh, might be - after I ordered it two weeks ago it disappeared from the site, but reappeared later (which is why I didn't post it to ozbargain straight away).

The 8x16 model is still available.
