OW down to 900~ and maybe chuck a 2 year warranty on top for 100.

If anyone can find a lappie with a better gfx card for under 1000, let me know asap. I want to buy >.<

  • Heads up. picture there on centrecom site seems to be wrong?
That model lappy does not have a numberpad but pic has one.
    Just thought you should know

But other than that great specs.

    • Yea it doesn't have a numeric keypad. Probably worthwhile to go into a dicksmith store and try the keyboard out. This guy has some complaints that you notice till you try the laptop. HP Pavilion dv6-3006TX Dicksmith Review

  • Looks like a very nice deal… but I'm going to wait for the Envy 14.

Bought this one a couple of months ago (Core I3 but no bluetooth) for $850 including a $100 cashback (ie $750 after discount)

    • +1

oh no, are you serious? i bought the exact same one. Got it at onlinecomputers for 899=/ 750 is a fantastic deal.

Probably because HP laptops seem to be sold exclusively by large retail stores where all the "less than computer-savvy" people shop, lol. ASUS wasn't sold by the large retail stores until fairly recently.

    • I have a DV6-?? C2D/4g/ATI/etc.. had for about 8 months and have given it a very hard workout including a sea trip to PNG & other islands. It surprises me just how good it is. Admittedly I am computer savvy and don't needlessly drop, kick or abuse the thing nor let the dog chew on it so that does help. Like someone has already said "less than computer savvy people" will have problems with anything and the opinion given from such a source should be taken lightly.

Re the feedback on the DSE site..
"horrible keyboard, horrible mousepad, useless/annoying 'quickweb', stiff usb ports, no bluetooth"

Perfectly normal keyboard to me. Typicial touchpad. Quickweb can be uninstalled. USB ports normal. Got a bluetooth dongle for $3.

Great laptop and a true bargain here.

    • It's not that their hardware is too much worse than anyone else's, it's that they have extremely poor warranty/technical support, just ask any of their service agents!

They frequently keep customers waiting months for decisions on repairs, jerking both the end-user and agent around! This is the reason I'd steer clear of HP; but hey, if anyone's having a good run out of them, kudos! ;)

  • Got one from Ow today for $901. Awesome value laptop. Comes preloaded with 64-bit win 7.

    • Whats the battery life like on it? Dunno if I should wait for the Envy 14 or take up this deal. The Envy's probably going to be fairly expensive… but I'd prefer a 14" laptop.

  • Well I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I would think 3 hours of reasonable usage is not out of the question looking at other users feedback around the interwebz.

  • Typing on it now. Ended up getting it at dick smiths for 950+150 2 yr extended warranty. Also got a huge ass laptop bag and a wireless mouse for free. I then bought a logitech cooling pad for 23 extra bucks brining my total purchase to 1123. I rekon i could have bargained another 50 bucks from the lappie price and gotten the cooling pad for free… but the guy was nice and i was starting to feel bad after haggling wif jb for 20 mins to bring just the laptop+warranty down to 1.1k where dicksmith was very agreeable and i hardly had to push at all. Overall could have gotten my package for some 70 dollars cheaper at 1050. Would reccomend getting this at dicksmith due to their already low start price.
(if u go for warranty, the salesperson more likely to give you a good deal with extras as they ONLY make a commission on that).

As for the laptop, it will take soem getting use to with an extra row of keys to the left side – makes typing a pain. Bit basic in terms of design and such, the damn the specs are worth it.
Oh yea, not to mention the 1.5k laptop video card.

    GET IT

If you live in vic and dont want xtnd warranty/ extra free stuff by all means go pricematch it at OW for 900. OW xtnd warranty is 180. Riiiip
