  • Wow! That's a good one! Will optus beat this price I wonder

    • +2

Optus has 10% and 15% off for multi devices - Vodafone stopped 10% of 2nd devices for long time already.

      • +2

Unless you ask them. Got $5 off my second plan for the wife. That ended up being 11% off her bill, and we share data/unlim international calls.

      • +1

Voda does 20% off second service for sim only and 10% for handset plans

        • @jimbobaus: Is this on Voda site? I've never been offered such a discount and wanna call them up.

      • Not true, in VF store, if you have an existing account, you can have 20% off access fee when you sign up with $50+ SIM only month to month and 12 months plan. I actually signed my number with VF first (no discount) then I got 20% off on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th number (I paid $40 for the $50 SIM only 12 months plan)

  • You can get at least $3 discount if you call customer care. I got call yesterday and was offered these plan and on top of that $3 discount. Also, was told $40 plan comes with 300 free international minutes and $50 have 1300 free IM.

    • The Global plans I have 2GB less than the Data plans OP has posted.

      • +1

Ya my bad, Sorry for confusion. The one i was taking about is global plan with 6 gb data plan with 1300 international mins.

    • I rang customer care and they advised that $3 discount is only available to existing customers.

      • I'm with Vodafone already so probably that's why i was offered discount.

  • At least Optus include international calls.

    • +1

Yeah if you want international minutes then you get 2GB less data.

      • Yep. And Optus include free music streaming.

        • Yes you're right

        • +1

And Vodafone offer $5 roaming… All networks have their advantages/disadvantages

        • @rend2688:

Agreed. And that is why I'm still with Vodafone for their Roam Like it's Home option.

        • @rend2688: Nothing beats a 3 mobile sim in Europe! 20 euro for 10gb (used it in many countries)

    • +1

There's still plans available that include international calls with Vodafone

      • Which are they? And how much?

        • Yes but they have less data than the Optus equivalent.

        • +2

          @Spizz:

          Optus:
          $40 12m = 8GB data
          $50 12m = 15GB data

          Vodafone:
          $40 12m = 10GB data
          $50 12m = 13GB data

All plans above offer international calls. So you're comment is only 'partially' correct.

          @rend2688:

          Good point.

      • @rend2688
Are there any VF plans which includes international minutes but not to selected countries? The place I want to call is not a selected country so I had preferred the 300 international minutes that was previously offered as that could be used to call any international number.

        • +1

          Sadly that is long gone.

        • +1

No. sadly international call connection charges were changed mid year resulting in a lot of re-evaluation of which countries were included in international slllwances (Optus has 2 countries more than Vodafone but otherwise the same)
unless the countries excluded improve their connection rates it's unlikely you will see them included for some time.

Example: Sri Lanka charged 0.28c to connect a call from an international carrier… now it is over $3 and then it's 0.55c pm hence why it's been dropped by most carriers (excluding those with pre exisiting deals such as Lyca etc)

        • @jimbobaus:
Thanks for the update. Guess I am stuck with calling cards for these countries then.

Negotiated them down to $36pm for 12m/10gb/300min plan, said I was looking at going Optus, asked for loyalty discount they started at $38 said it wasn't good enough & they came down to $36, worth a try done it on chat

    • Nice good deal.. Worth trying for existing customers

    • Nice, will give it a shot. wife is struggling on 1.5gb p/m.

    • Thanks for this.

Although I didn't go with Vodafone, I used this as leverage to get Virgin to come to the party.

Got Virgin to match the $40, 12GB offer for 12mths. Cheers OP!

    • How do I access the vodafone chat?

      • on the website should just pop up while your on the site, or look around for a chat now icon..

        • Got my partners and mine changed too…

          Thank you!

    • +1

Did they ask you to renew the contract? I've tried and was told that they can offer like yours if I renew the contract for another 12-month.

  • Also note that they now have 20gb for $60 (ex int. minutes) or 18gb (inc. minutes)

For a Melbourne metro customer, can anyone suggest the better of Optus or Vodafone or are they a much of a much? Thanks

    • Wouldn't coverage on voda and optus be the same due to their network sharing agreement?

  • would vodafone match optus's 15gb for $50 deal WITH free music streaming?

    • +1

They can't match what they don't offer.
Vodafone does not have free streaming available so it's unlikely they can include it when matching an offer.

    • I tired doing that, said they cant match it. They can offer 14GB Internet instead.

  • Great post.

    12gb, for $36 on a 12mnth contract.

    Call customer care and ask.

    • With 300 international minutes?

      • 120 mins

  • Existing customer - the best I was offered $37 for 10GB data + 300 International minutes - 12 months contract.

  • great deal! Just got the $36/12gb/12mth plan
    +1

    • how did you get the plan for $36?
