iPhone Plus Model

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy an iPhone for my Mum. I want to get a Plus model so she can see easier with the big screen. I assume a 6 Plus would be cheapest because it's the oldest of these models. I want to have warranty so don't want second hand.

I'm not confident that the sellers I've looked at on eBay will be around to honor their warranty in a year (or do I take it to Apple in which case it doesn't matter if they're around or not?)

Thanks for any suggestions.

    • Great site.

      Thanks.

  • Just wondering what she will mainly use it for. I have an iPhone 6+ and an iPad Mini 4 and I use the mini an lot more than the phone. If I need access to the internet I just teather the iPad, but it does have limitations. The screen of the iPhone is good but there are a number of apps, like the Tram app, where you can't pinch zoom, which is a PITA as I need to get my glasses out to read. If I had my time over again I would've stayed with my iPhone 4 and just got an iPad Mini 4 with a SIM card.

    • She would play Mahjong & Skype/FaceTime her grandkids. She doesn't get much email but she checks it.

She doesn't do much on her phone but she has an iPhone 3GS which has a screen that even I struggle to read on. I'm hoping with a Plus iPhone she would find it easier to use and therefore do more on it.

  • Apple doesn't officially sell iPhone 6 Plus anymore, so if you want official warranty, may be a bit hard to find it.

Also how long do you want the phone to last for? If you can afford it, you can future proof it by getting the latest model or if you don't mind, try the iPhone 6S Plus.

    • Apple's prices have gone through the roof. So the more we spend, the longer it needs to last. But, obviously, it doesn't work like that.
