LG 29UC88 Curved 29" 21:9 75hz 2560x1080p Monitor USD $305.34 (~AUD $420) Delivered from Buydig.com on eBay

170

so i i've been shopping for a 21:9 monitor recently and came across this on ebay. i didn't post upon time of purchase because i wanted to receive mine first to make sure it was legit. i purchased mine on the 28th oct and i received it today (9th nov) so i can confirm it is a trusted seller.
the monitor is a curved 29" lg 21:9 2560x1080p ips 75hz freesynce monitor and after conversion of currency through paypal can to roughly $420 delivered. much better than the average $750ish it would take to purchase locally and have delivered to my area which is rural australia. anyhow i'm sure you ozbargainers have a way of saving a few extra bucks :)

IMPORTANT: as its coming from the states, you will also require a plug converter for australian sockets. like this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/US-EU-Universal-to-AU-Australia-3… and monitor does not come with display port cable. only hdmi cable.
Also important is the warranty is 1yr american warranty.

my impressions of the monitor. 29" is more than enough for me. the curve is subtle so it doesn't warp your perception of straight lines. there is minor backlight bleed which is barely noticable. i only noticed on a pitch black screen and i was looking for bleed. you won't notice it during gameplay. i'm currently pairing it with my gtx 1070 and have it locked to 75hz on bf1. it is glorious!

hope i didn't miss anything. thanks :)

Yeah, once paypal does a currency conversion though they chuck on another 4%. Plus us economy is a bit wavery at the moment so the exchange rate is gunna be up or down compared to as of when i purchased mine on the 28th

      • Cheeky paypal

      • So maybe pay with the 28 degree card will be cheaper?

        • Probably. I don't have one myself but have read about them many times here. That's why i mentioned that ozbargainers could save a few bucks somehow. Figured there would be a way, i just dont purchase enough online to warrant myself getting these cards :)

@lindendwightt: I don't think u have to purchase over a specific amount online to get the card, only income confirmation letter is needed. Considering oversea travel and Amazon,it worth a try : ). Anyway, thanks for mentioning the cunning paypal, I did not notice that they are charging me extra 4%.

        • @Louis89: no worries. I was a little wrong. 3.5% to usd and 4% to other currencies. It outlined here https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees
          There's always new fees :/

its cheap. got one myself from buydig a week ago. waiting for d arrival…:)

    • Good stuff. I'm loving mine. Hope you've got a displayport cable sorted. Think its needed to hit that 75hz. Was really surprised at the shipping speed :)

      • still waiting for mine. do u know which shipping company they use? couldnt track it online properly.

        • I think it was australia post judging by the sticker. I wasn't home when it arrived so my misses signed for it

          @lindendwightt: thanks mate.

        • @Meque: no prob :)

  • Just wondering what size 1920x1080 monitor the height of this would be comparable to?

    • +2

from what I can work out - think about a 24" monitor with extra bits stuck on each side. The height looks to be an equivalent of a 24" monitor

  • Good for 3 screen gaming?

    • I did see a picture of 3 21:9 monitors the other day and it looked pretty extreme. Not my cup of tea. But i dont like seeing bezels. Thats why i went 21:9. But just one is enough i think :)

      • So the bezels are big on these too? I've already got 3x 24" Samsung 1920x1200's but the bevels are annoying. I've also got an old Dell 30" running 2560x1600 but prefer triple screens.. First world problems eh! Do they have them on display in store somewhere?

        • They're not big bezels. I just don't like bezels with multiscreen set ups. But thats just me. Find it draws me out of the immersimmersion. Not sure where you'd be able to view in store sorry.

Tempting but I really want a 1440p Freesync monitor :/

    • I was on the same fence for a while but really wanted that 21:9 aspect ratio and my budget didn't allow for both
