Under Sink Water Filter

Looking at these and such a range… seems $50 through to $500 for a filter. For chilled water, $500+ (I would have thought chilling would be simple but apparently not, as a lot more expensive).

On Amazon.com top rated filters are $100-200 USD. So the cheap AUD stuff is probably rubbish.

Does anyone know of a decent filter system, that is likely to be around in years to come given need to keep replacing the filters?

    why are you filtering?

    taste?

    odour?

    colour?

    other?

  • Taste. Ideally wanting chille, but instead of being an extra $100 or similar I thought it'd be, it seems to be at least $500+. Which seems crazy, would be cheaper to just buy a fridge with a water outlet.

    • the chilled ones are basically a fridge, you have to have the refridgeration components to make the water cold.

But I was thinking the same, if your fridge is older, maybe buy a whole new fridge with a water ice section (and get it plumbed - but you can get unplumbed ones)

    • Get a water bottle, fill it up with filtered water and store it in the fridge.

      • I'm after a 2016 solution ;) The easier it is the more I drink water. Have done bottles before and over the years, for the sake of a hundred bucks or two would much rather something fixed.

We had a Sunbeam(?) on counter thing that held 6L or so, but it broke, then the replacement broke, so not too impressed about trying that avenue again.

You can buy replacement filters from them, or anyone else (they're a standard size).

Easy to install, easy to change filters yourself.

Ive owned a couple of these (in houses Ive owned); recommended to family and friends.

The guys at PSI filters are great too if you do need any additional help installing it.

    • How much would it cost to have these professionally installed?
