Trance N Dance on 29/06/2010 - 16:05 ¶They beat us in cricket…. Yeah like infernal_max I'm gonna have to judge you harsly on this :P

...BeAkEr... on 29/06/2010 - 11:03 ¶Not sure, you'd have to check the build date.
They are all however drive firmware hackable, meaning that you can play backups burned to DVD. http://muppet-modding.com for easy guides and help on how to do it.
PaulKalenjuk on 29/06/2010 - 10:35 ¶What store was the price drop at?
The Marion SA store won't honor this price!

Good deal but i think it's not good as this one: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/27061

infernal_max on 29/06/2010 - 10:50 ¶correct me if im wrong, but the fact harvey norman is run like a franchise, means stores arent obligated to meet the specials if they choose not to

Only if it's in the contract or fine print somewhere.
Most stores would be forced to, else some would refuse to run specials they aren't going to make money off; which would then piss people off if they saw a special on TV etc but the store wouldn't honour it, and they'd lose business in general.
Trance N Dance on 29/06/2010 - 16:06 ¶Every franchise has a pricebeat guarantee anyway, so even if they're difference franchises withing a reasonable distance of each other then they have to beat the price anyway?
PaulKalenjuk on 29/06/2010 - 10:53 ¶Just walked out of the Marion store empty handed, they refused to honor the price. They had it at $185
...BeAkEr... on 29/06/2010 - 10:58 ¶I thought the HN rep said that other HN stores had to price match each other during the PS3 Slim fiasco we had here a few months back?
infernal_max on 29/06/2010 - 11:06 ¶fiasco, is probably why the hn rep said that, they atleast dont want a repeat of that I guess, but without knowing otherwise, i wouldnt expect to get the special, until I had actually paid for it with hn

That generally relates to widely advertised (eg. catalogue) deals that stores are supposed to support (unless specifically excluded) but being franchises can choose to do what they like until you drag it to the attention of HN head office and only then if Gerry gives them a call to avoid bad press. We are talking about Harvey Norman here…

mikkim4eva on 29/06/2010 - 11:50 ¶I thought kinect is coming out next year… and if you cannot save 168 by then…

I dislike motion gaming, wish I never bought the wii that's gathering dust already. There's no way that thing will be accurate enough to use with a FPS. I will go with Sony's Move probably, if only for the Time Crisis: Storm Razing and the fact that that MS want AU$200+ for their eye toy.
Xbox 360 is a kick ass online gaming machine with awesome FPS games (amongst others) but I think they have taken the wrong direction with Kinect.
infernal_max on 29/06/2010 - 13:11 ¶im sure for actual gaming it will be bad, but it will still be a nice toy to have imho
superforever on 29/06/2010 - 14:47 ¶Saw XBOX 360 arcade $148, 360 Elite Black with ODST, Forza 3 $249 and White Wii $219 at HN Balgowlah.
Doesn't have photo of it.
superforever on 29/06/2010 - 14:51 ¶Yes without Hard disk.
I think you can still use it as media extender but not 100% sure whether it needs hard disk to cache.
...BeAkEr... on 29/06/2010 - 15:06 ¶Yes it works as Media Extender, you can also use any USB stick as official memory now guys (though you will need a HDD for online)

manbearpig on 29/06/2010 - 16:34 ¶When would the manufacturing date of these arcade models be around? Would they be jasper?

HN Mt Barker SA, matched the price over the phone. Picked up 2, they had a stack priced at $247. Salesman checked with manager when on the phone, said in-store they just wanted to get rid of them with the new slim 360 coming. Looks like the phat 360 will be difficult to find soon.
