Hmm. Weight capacity of 90.7kg. Might not be suitable for some heavy set guys like me.

Even has a height limit of 175cm …

      Me neither!

However that is understandable, as these chairs are targeted at preteens and early teenagers.

      Wow thats really low.

I am under that but I wouldn't want a chair where I would be worried about it breaking under weight.

    • Same style of chair is $148 at Officeworks, with free delivery and 120kg weight rating:

  • when does this expire? looking to buy one for work

MSY has one style for cheaper:

    Might be more worthwhile?

    • There not dxracer though.

Although the brand is different, for $250 I have to say they are well worth the money. I bought one from Centrecom (ThunderX3-TGC15) and the quality is beautiful. Really with the DXracers, I think you're just paying extra for the brand as I saw no major compromise here in quality.

I may be wrong about the dxracers, maybe there is something special to them. If so, please let me know

Even cheaper look-alike at Officeworks ($148 delivered) - if it breaks within the 1-year warranty, take it back for a refund.

That may be the case but i had that exact chair and it was uncomfortable as hell.

I think buying one of these chairs is paying a premium just for being a race chair….

Been looking at one for ages but couldn't get myself to pay for a low quality seat at a high price just due to it being a bucket seats.

I bought a King series and it's Very strong and really heavy.
It's nothing like the officeworks chairs.
I do not regret paying the $449 for mine one bit.

I know this isnt really a bargain, but i DIYed mine out of a recaro replica. Benefits over any of these is the alcantara. Of course i had to make a frame and attach it to the base myself though

    • +1

Do you have any pictures? I've wanted to do that myself, car seats from the wreckers can be had for $50-100 for good ones.

        Seat

        Frame

Time taken: better half of 2 days
        Materials: 2x 19mmx19mmx1.2mm(thick) aluminium tube or 2x 20mm x 20mm x 1.6mm steel tube
high tensile bolts, heavy duty steel L brackets, Drill bits, washers etc.

I would opt for steel, but its much harder to drill through. I am lightweight, so i thought aluminium would do just fine.

Mind you my whole setup costed about $230 so its not cheap. But i had the PU leather racer office chair from office works and the PU peeled off and was horrible. Didnt want another PU leather chair.

        • Thanks for that. I'll give it a go, but I think I'll try 70x35mm timber instead of aluminium tubing.

Because the chair's seat is thicker than an office chair, did you have any problems with the chair being too high, even at the lowest setting of the base's height adjustment?

        • +1

@Russ: height wise wasn't really a problem for me because before I replaced the seat I would always make it go to the highest setting. Now with this chair I leave it at the lowest.

The other thing was the angle of the seat. Car bucket seats are not designed to sit flat, you sit at about a 20-30 degree incline. To correct this, you can see from my pictures I added another support bar. It also serves as an added redundancy against joint failure, although I don't see how the joints could fail as the weakest material is the aluminium

zqracing were selling their pax demo chairs for half price the cheapest ones were like $145

    • +1

      Where? When?

      • +1

at pax aus they were all sold out

  • Okay, someone with gaming chair knowledge fill me in please. Is this a good price for this brand/model gaming chair? I've been looking at DX Racers for awhile but can't figure out which model is top of the range and which model is entry level.

    • +1

They're all good quality. The only difference between the series is how big the chair is. For eg. The formula series is made for smaller people. So don't buy it if you are really tall and weigh over its weight capacity. I think there is a video on their site showing the different series/models to help you decide which is best for you. I have 0 regrets purchasing mine, they're great and comfy.

  • unable to apply coupon code

"The coupon you entered is not valid or expired already, if any question, please contact us"

    • The coupon is only valid on the "Formula" style chairs. It doesn't work on any of the other chair styles.

could also be the formatting by ozbargain the coupon code is "formula 01" with a space.

      • Thanks. You are correct. Coupon code is actually "formula 01" with space

  • Mine arrived today. Shipping took way too long (Sydney —> Adelaide) @ 7 days (Hunter Express = The worst).
However, the chair is f$#%ing amazing!!

So comfortable. It is easily the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in.
