  • If only it had a microphone built in for phone calls, other than that it's still a bargain especially being dewalt branded

    • +5

I think they may have just leased out their brand name rather than actually designed this in-house and had this assembled in China.

Doubt they had anything to do with this item.

      • They don't lease out their name and pretty much all DeWalt stuff is made in China these days.

    • +5

Look at the blitz wolf one on bangood. Similar price, better looks. And has a mic you want.

      • +4

Wow, it looks so much better too http://m.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-Bluetooth-V4_1-Car-Handsfree…

It's so good that you can use it to make calls

        • +3

blitz wolf stuff I have bought is pretty good too, its a decent brand.

        • +3

@PVA: If my recent Blitz Wolf car charger purchase for the Nexus 6p is anything to go by, they make some quality products.

        • @Munki:
Is that USB C? Looking to buy one ( and a USB to USB c cable that won't damage the charger or phone like some cheapie do)

        • +2

@PVA: Indeed it's a USB C. There's one hard wired USB C plug to the phone and it has an additional port that can do 5V/2.4A.

          http://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-5V-5_4A-USB-Type-C-BW-C3-C…

          It's a great product.

        • @Munki:
I am looking at the Quick Charge 3.0 version. $13.
I would need to buy a USB c to USB c lead though to plug in the V20 phone.
Only so I don't have a lead attached all the time.

        • I bought the dewalt one, it works great. but probably won't end up using it because of the battery issue (as a precaution).

The temperature limit is 40 degrees roughly. Which I don't think it will reach anyway, 40 degrees is heat wave level, and with aircon while driving it won't get anywhere near that. While under shade it also won't reach that.

but in terms of the actual product, I recommend it. The audio quality is good. It even seemed to bring up voice commands on my phone when I hit the home button. It might be able to change tracks too.

I have also bought the Blitz wolf one (which I will use for the car). Hopefully it works just as well or better. Will probably give the dewalt one away as a gift.

        • @PVA: Sorry mate. Can't comment on how good that is.

  • 100ft range… hmm tempting.

    Must.resist

    • +1

      At this price, why resist?

      • Can anyone vouch for this being any better than any equivalent product made in china that's sold on eBay?

There are stacks of these around. This one has a hard hat on!

It's got pretty good reviews on Amazon. Whereas the cheapie Chinese one I bought off ebay has pretty crap battery life and the frequent dropouts make them frustrating to use.

        • +3

@HugoHugo: I work at a tool shop and have had this unit for a while, I bought it because of the fact I actually walked about 10 meters away from the unit and it did not drop out! I payed $50 for this, definitely worth a buy at this price.

/ edit: This thing holds charge for ages, easily a couple of days!

  • +1

Lithium battery… hmm. There goes my plan to use it and leave it in the car. Don't think the Aussie summer heat is going to be kind on lipo batteries.

    • Just bought one from my car. It will hook up to a device (Not near the centre console, that can be shaded…as a matter of fact it can be recessed into the car itself.

Plus my car will be undercover most of the time and I don't drive too far for the most part.

Should that be alright? Is there any danger with the battery?

      • +1

        Picture the Note7

      • I'm thinking about doing the same, what about putting it inside the compartment with the aux port?

What's the main risk with the battery? How hot does it have to be to blow up?

        • Battery will degrade very quickly when exposed to high temp.

The worse case scenario is spontaneous combustion.

        • @scrimshaw:

yeah wow…damn i just bought one. Handy for home stereos etc

What sort of batteries are car safe? I'm still stuck with mp3 CDs in my car!

        • @G Wok: buy a Xiaomi Roidmi for car use

      • I want something similar but I don't want to have to turn it on each time, would like it to start when I start the car but I don't think any do that.

        • Yeah good point…didnt realise I would have to turn it on each time. Damn ozbargain, can't not buy good deals.

Probably won't use it in car anyway given heat issue. The longe range is handy I guess to convert stereos into bluetooth playing devices.

  • is it aptx?

  • Ordered, perfect addition to the Makita Radio :)

  • +12

Dewalt? I thought Dewalt was what you used to add a 3.5mm socket to your iPhone 7.

Brilliant idea for the bose soundDock. I bought a cheapie from ebay bluetooth dongle and it's a pain. Wish I got this!

    • Why would this be better?

    • I bought the 2 different soundDocks but didn't even think about no BT, then got annoyed because I can't use BT.
I recevied this BT unit yesterday, and works and sounds great.
So now I'm glad I bought the bose units.

  • +1

For those coming here after this has expired I recommend the MPow Streambot as an alternative.

  • +1

    I can turn my QC15 to a QC35 now!

  • +3

This is a good alternative from Blitzwolf http://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-Bluetooth-V4_1-Car-Handsfr…

    • Thanks!

      • Thanks +1 - I bought this one also - 10% off code at banggood (12blitzw) brings price to $18.40

I just bought this for no reason. And now I need to buy a soundbar.

    • +2

Let me know if you find a good deal on a soundbar - I just did the same. Somebody please ban me from Ozbargain ;-)

  • +2

Probably been commented elsewhere but is it Ebay that is blocking the payment using Paypal-Amex card or is the store?
Only Paypal payment option I have is Visa or Mastercard :(

    • +1

Yes, this is the second time it has happened to me. I'm reasonably sure that the previous time was also Grays Online.

  • So this is a receiver not a transmitter?

  • Can someone help me out.

Would this allow me to connect Bluetooth headphones to a non Bluetooth output stereo???

Or does this do something else????

    • No it won't.
This converts you non-bluetooth speakers to bluetooth enabled. so that you can transmit from your smartphone to the speakers.

    • "The DeWalt DCR002 Blutooth Radio Adapter gives you the ability to turn any radio/Hi-Fi/speaker system with a 3.5mm auxiliary input (Aux-In) into a bluetooth compatible system."

It connects to an input socket and feeds an audio source via Bluetooth, not for connecting an output device like headphones.

  • +1

You can use the Bluetooth while having it on charge at same time. Cheers, OP

    • This makes it much better than the ebay one I have which uses a custom usb->3.5mm jack for charging.

  • Unable to use coupon.

  • That youtube review in the OP made me laugh. He found it handy he could leave his phone in the door of the DeWalt Radio. Kinda defeats the purpose of it being wireless :P

  • +1

Bought 2. Not sure why I need two, but great price!

  • I have a similar product in my car. Works beautifully but when I am using it AND it is plugged in th charge, I get a buzz/hiss through the speakers. unplug the charger and there is no interference. As I said - it is a similar product. I get the same issue when I hardwire my phone and play directly through my aux out and charge it at the same time.

    • Try having the play volume on full on the phone and just adjust on the car stereo.

Sounds like you charger or phone has a problem, no noise problems at all with a belting charger with Bluetooth or cable and various phones and cars.

      • +1

Probably noisey charging input. You could try getting a better charger (or wiring a cap in parallel if you're handy). Could also be that it's earthing through the aux cord rather than through earth on the cigarette socket.

        • Right probably dirty power that needs filtering or ground loop. Just using a different chargers may solve it

    • is yours a lithium battery? any problems with overheating?

The spontaneous combustion referred to in the post above is slightly concerning lol

  • I grabbed this on a whim before lights out last night - it was super late and I had in my mind to attach it to my AV receiver and use it to send audio to my bluetooth headphones and replace the crappy transmitter I purchased off ebay.

Never mind - I'm sure I'll find some use for this receiver!

  • Just bought one for the old (non BT) amp and speakers that will sit out in the garage. Now I can bop to the beat off my phone while making sawdust.

I already have an FM transmitter attached to the TV in another room so I can listen to music or the news through the radio in the amp…. an alternative to the BT transmitter people want. (I know it doesn't help with the BT headphones)

  • I was thinking of getting one when I saw this last night but I took a look at Amazon reviews…the charging port issue concern me….

"…. This is actually a great idea and works really well BUT; this is the 2nd one I have received and both have exhibited the same issue. The micro USB charge port is garbage. The 1st one I bought failed on the 2nd charge. The problem is that the port became detached from the circuit board inside the unit…"

    • It's got three year warranty, so I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Will this connect to a PC with a bluetooth card? (the card lets me use the PC to send music to a bluetooth capable speaker) It seems it is not being detected so I'm not sure whether there is a problem or I am trying to go beyond what it is designed for?

    • No, the PC will connect to it.

However your PC will need Bluetooth. If it's a laptop it will probably have it already. If it's a desktop you might need to buy a USB Bluetooth adapter.

      • Thanks matt…, as I say the PC has a bluetooth card that will connect to a bluetooth speaker but this thingie remains stubbornly invisible. My ipad "saw" it no problem. Puzzling.

  • I don't think my car has any audio jack - there is none that I can see anywhere in and around the dashboard ! It has only the cigarette lighter USB socket.
Will I still be able to make this work ?

    • Only if you open your radio and find the aux connection points and connect an audio jack to it.

  • Bought one but it doesn't show up on the bluetooth screen of my phones or tablets, while it's a pairing mode (flashing red/blue quickly). Did I get a dud or am I doing something wrong?

    • +1

Mine took a couple of attempts to show up as well… Eventually it did an I could pair it, and it connects automatically once paired which is good.

      • thank you I tried it again for the 4th time and it works now =]

  • I got one, and connecting it via a 3.5mm to RCA adaptor to the line in, my Sonos system now has Bluetooth input capabilities. Very useful for cricket/AFL broadcasts that block tunein radio stations and force you to use an app.

  • For all you pessimists out there not only do I leave this in my car 24/7 I also have a BLF A6 Astrolux in there too, initiate anxiety now!
    I like to live dangerously.
I also have a generous agreed value insurance on my car ;)

  • Not sure why this is marked as expired, can the post be altered to the current ebay code CSUNNY20 ?
