$300 / $150 (Family etc / Single) Gift Cards for Purchasing Health Insurance through iSelect

90

Terms and conditions

I got this in my email today. It looks to be good sign on bonus at first glance.
I've only had a quick look at the terms but it seems you only need to hold onto the cover for 12 days. Most of these types of deals require a longer commitment.

You could receive up to $300 in digital gift cards if you buy eligible health insurance* by 18 December 2016 through iSelect^. Just in time for Christmas!

Retailers:

  • Myer
  • Rebel Sport
  • JB Hi Fi
  • Ticketmaster
  • Coles
  • Woolworths.

Gift card amounts:

  • Purchase of 'singles' health insurance policy*
    $150 in online gift cards
  • Purchase of 'couples', 'family' or 'single parents' health insurance policy*
    $300 in online gift cards

To get the offer:

  • call 13 19 20 and make sure you mention the 'Christmas Offer'
  • go to the deal link and click the 'find health cover' button

From the T&Cs:
Edge Loyalty will send an email within 10 business days of purchase, which will contain a landing page portal URL and multiple Gift Card codes. When the Eligible
Person visits the portal, they will be able to select a preferred Gift Card.
The codes will only be valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
Within 2 business day of an Eligible Person selecting their Gift Cards, Edge Loyalty will send the relevant Gift Card links to the Eligible Person in separate emails.

Make sure you read and understand the terms and conditions yourself before proceeding. There's a lot of eligibility criteria in there so this may not work for everyone.

  • Got something like this earlier in the year, great deal.

  • I signed up during this promo last year. Got $300 in JB gift cards just in time for Christmas

  • Do I really need this
Spent 34 yrs with no health cover
Now I have a little one

    Should I sign up ?

No if you haven't needed it so far; just use public system for your little one. If you take it out, you'll pay a surcharge for every year > 30 you haven't been covered.

Best time to take out was 12 months before you (if female) or partner started conceiving to get maternity cover to pay for hospital cost of delivery if private.

Just be aware of you start "the dance" with iSelect, they will be very "persistent" in trying to contact you. They get highly compensated/commissioned for a sale and it shows when you deal with them

  • Found iselect to be pretty good, no calls after the sale.

  • This seems like a reasonable enough deal but at the moment Medibank offer a $200/$100 gift card and waive the 2 and 6 month extras waiting periods. I don't think ISelect necessarily offer the best value for money due to being incentivised. In saying that you have to know what you need as cheap policies have exclusions and restrictions and you'll end up in the public system anyhow. In most cases you are better off going through the fund directly, if worst comes to worst you can churn elsewhere. As others have said on here some funds pay very low rebates for surgical procedures and many will only pay a fixed fee for extras services and both can leave you substantially out of pocket.

  • How can we receive email. Must be existing customers?

  • Does anyone who received the email mind forwarding the email on to my email address. I can PM you email. Would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Does anyone know how many months does one have to keep the health insurance before making the switch to the next one to be valid for the gift card?

    • Just for future reference, I applied on Dec 12 and got my gift cards on Dec 21.

  • I applied to this one. Will claim gift cards and cancel within the 30 day cooling period
