  • Isn't Foxtel rejigging foxtel play?

    Is this them rejigging it?

    • +3

This is the revamped version. I was optimistic when I heard about what they were doing, but the packages are still pretty crap value.

    • It's been rejigged for a week or so now.

      • Cool cool

Prior to the rejig, to get sport, it was 50 per month

Now its only 35 per month for base plus sports

        thats not bad…

but im guessing its still HQ and not HD

        • +1

          I just noticed this too

The Sport Pack will be $29 per month from 1 February 2017

        • +1

sport is the only reason to get foxtel if you're under the age of 60, and even for that, they're becoming less and less relevant.

        • +1

          @thumbybumbi:

This is true and Foxtel know it and the public know it. Foxtel wouldn't last a day without its premium sports content. The rest of foxtel is garbage.

  • +4

Title should clarify that it's $15/month for first 3 months.

    • I was reading the comments hoping someone would clarify. Nice going!

    Still no HD

  • +1

HD now available (3GB/hour) on the new Telstra TV app released today (apparently HD is exclusive to Telstra TV at this stage):

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2563878&…

For those who are keen, a Telstra TV can be had for around $50 brand new on Gumtree (unwanted Bigpond / Telstra freebies), and can be used on any ISP.

AppleTv App? Airplay? HD? or still same old rubbish

    • +1

      Available on chromecast- no.
      Available on Kodi -no.
      Available on Linux -no.

      • And Xbox One app is garbage.

I'm forced to run a HDMI cable to my TV from my PC just to watch NBL. Despite having a Xbox One and Nexus Player already connected.

Foxtel can eat my dirty jocks once the season is over.

Edit: oh and it also blocked on Android if your device is rooted.

  • So, for a new sports pack, it will still cost $35/m and not $15/m?

    • It'll be $25 plus any other channels until 1 February, then $29 per month plus other channels.

      • +1

Why are they still forcing these basic packs on sport fans? Please I just want to choose the sport pack and be done with. How hard is that :/

        • +1

          Amen!

The sport package is all I have ever wanted from Foxtel, and probably the same for a big percentage of users, so they make you pay for other useless channels to get more money out of you. Solid profit policy there, highly doubt they would change it.

I too was optimistic when I heard their plans to offer a proper streaming service, but am now extremely disappointed.

Still too expensive. Should be $5 per pack. I pay less for Stan and Netflix.

    • +1

What do you do to watch sports

      • I don't watch sports that often.

  • Can I pay for this using Google play (Telstra credit)?

    • I wish. …I use credit for netflix and play music.

  • Dont bother doesnt let me sign up (I have presto but no luck:( )

  • You had better add "per" month to the heading. You fooled me, you bait advertising trickster.

  • not available to foxtel with optus customers

  • I signed up fine and don't have presto. Not sure why there isn't more upvotes?

It seems easy to cancel before the 2 weeks is up too.

    • I am a Presto Customer and it won't let be sign up. Such B/S

I didn't get the coupon code from here. I filled out everything perfectly and it won't let me sign up.

      • PRESTO2PLAY doesn't work?

        Try a different email maybe?

        • +1

Yes that's what I was using. Could have been a glitch, but it is working now.

  • This new pricing actually looks legit.

    Great find OP.
I get that this is easier to cancel, I just wish that it were easier to cancel your subscription to their cable TV service. I signed up for the one month free no contract, I have never had Foxtel before, and to see what I was missing against our Netflix monthly fee I have been shocked at just how much this will cost for what I use after this freebie is over. Called Foxtel disconnect team, advised that we had only taken their base entertainment pack for free as that is still twice the price of Netflix, but thought that we would see what we are missing. Keeping in mind that it was very easy to get connected, but getting disconnected is another thing altogether. We are two weeks in to waiting for the return code to send the IQ3 back. But back to what you get for $25 a month on cable.. Not even HD, very little to watch that is of interest to us, but when we went to disconnect they said we can now have HD for free for life (Why isn't that just always in), and they would throw in two other packs excluding sports for us to watch while waiting for the disconnect(You could not pay me to watch sport anyway), and while waiting for the disconnect notice and return code, we think that the free to air HD channels look more like SD through the IQ3 and cable service when compared straight to our own antenna. My first encounter with Foxtel has left me with a very poor view of them.

  • Managed to sign up I also added the kids package. If you are with Telstra is it unlimited streaming?

  • Hi all definetely not hd on catch-up content. On telstra tv app says 1.1 gb for a walking dead episode, whilst 900mb on my android box (I had to take root off to make app work), so not much difference in terms of quality and i will use in second room. I will keep for 3 months and then decide. I want to watch game of throne/westworld etc which cannot be found on netflix.I will try live stream and report.

    • I assume you are talking about Anytime, which is still SD at this stage (supposedly will be HD early next year).

Live TV is definitely HD…"Best" quality setting is 3GB an hour, which is around 6.5mbps, which is at least 720p, if not 1080.

Looks great on my 58 inch TV :)

      • Yes that's right. It'll be great when also on demand will be hd too.

        • Ah yep sorry - missed the part where you said catch up content.

Thankyou. I just signed up :-) even tho the first few attempts failed.. so I tried diff combinations :)
    1. Entered my old presto email addy (linked to old cancelled Presto acc) - failed
    2. Tried completely different email addy - failed :(
    3. Used my maiden name (old presto acc was in married name) - failed
    4. Pulled hair out - failed
    5. decided to enter details of a different debit card - success!
.. so I had success without any link to being a past or present presto acc holder :) just saying
Kids will be happy. Thanks op! :-)
