Samsung SUHD 55" KS8000 $1495.00 @ The Good Guys

190

Was looking for this TV and the Samsung rep at JB HI FI told me to wait for boxing day as they would drop the price and most likely be the first ones to go.
I just got mine on click and collect.
The 65" is also on a good price $2.495

Two things. First, the price and store have to be mentioned in the title. And second, all the different varieties of this deal have already been posted (check the first 3 pages).

  • Price and store in title, please.

    • Now that you mention it… what the hell OP? Are you even in Australia?

    • +1

      $1.49?! Bargain

    • Also, the model is KS8000W, or even KS8000, not KS800. OP must have had one too many last night. lol

large flat screen TVs seem to be the new eneloops ….. do people have so much room that they are buying more or people are upgrading from FHD to UHD ? i can't find enough UHD content to justify an upgrade yet.

    • +1

YouTube and Netflix has plenty of 4K content. Not to mention the 4K blu rays which are available. Also home movies if you have 4K camera or recent smartphone. Plus it upscales which makes everything look good. Xbox One HDR enabled games look great, especially Forza Horizon 3. Can't believe how quickly the TV prices fall though, the Ks8000 65" was sitting at about $3700-$4000 for months with eBay specials taking a further 20% off, now this is a bit of a bargain.

      • I personally don't see much difference between 4K Netflix and FHD… My Sammy sites pretty good upscaling to 4K. Hardly notice the difference and save $4 a month…

        • Netflix adjusts the video to your available bandwidth so unless you have NBN the UHD isn't going to look any better.

        • @Agret:

I get 4K .. no difference in suhd and 1080…

      • I still think that software has not caught up yet. I believe that Star Trek Beyond is the only Bluray supporting HDR atm. Even PC gaming is not full blown 4K yet. XB1 FH3 is only upscaled to 2160p which the game itself has fantastic graphics, even on 1080p. I am not sure though if this TV supports Dolby Vision like the LGUH770T (UH7700 for the US)Cheers

        • I believe that Star Trek Beyond is the only Bluray supporting HDR atm.

Nah. The Revenant, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Life of Pi, The Maze Runner, Independence Day, Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Virtually all the new releases are HDR compatible too.

Even PC gaming is not full blown 4K yet.

What exactly do you mean by that?

        • @Agret:

In my view PC games just upscale to 4K similar to XB1S. Many later games can run @ 4K resolution but not optimised to 4K yet.

Many years ago, I had a Surround Gaming System ( 3 x 1080p monitors running @ 5760 x 1080) and it looked better, but it just created pixels by dithering.

Similar to 4K titles/games (well HDR for XB1S - Upscaled to 4K) that now have the Ultra High Def & HDR badge, I would expect the next gen PC games to be similar. If I don't see that then IMO it's doubtful that is optimised for 4K.

          Cheers

Also comes with a free injection of ads even in your own content/netflix etc.

  • this is not the curved screen is it ?

    • +1

I believe that their respective curved models have the prefix "5" after the model number. Eg KS8000 for normal screen and KS8500 for the curved. This is the normal flat screen model.Cheers

    • Thankfully no, this is the flat one with better viewing angles :)

  • I got this from JB a couple of weeks ago at $1998 or something, and I see today that they've matched this https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio… Is there any consumer law or something that allows me to recover that $500? It's a bit dirty to advertise a one day only sale, and then reduce it even further two weeks later :/

    • +1

Nope there is no law like that. This sort of thing happens all the time and especially with technology. There's never a perfect time to buy. These prices are crazy, I thought it might have been around 3k for the 65 KS8000 but under ~$2500 is ridiculous.

    • No such civil law lol, but perhaps you should be looking into the price protection insurance on your CC.

28 Degrees & Coles Mastercards offer this, at 0.5% or max 1% end-of-month statement I think.

    • Unfortunately no. You accepted that $1998 was a reasonable price to pay at that time. They have no obligation to do anything about it.

However, it doesn't hurt to ask if they could refund you the price difference as a gesture of good will. Alternatively, you could check the invoice if the S/N of the TV is listed. If it's not, then you could buy it again (brand new in box) and then return it using the old invoice (I believe there's a 30 days returns policy, you may need to confirm).

    • +1

Give them a ring. JB's are pretty good with refunding the difference. I did this last week with a Hisense 65". Got refunded $300.

      • Did you ring head office, or the store itself? The product has mysteriously disappeared from their online site anyways, so I'm guessing they pulled the product. I went in today to prove my case, but alas, it wasn't there. Luckily the manager was pretty cool. He gave me a further $60 off a hard drive I was after. It's a small gesture, but it's something

    • $500 education…next time to use a CC with price protection and you will get the $500 difference paid to you no problem. (plus most will give you extra years warranty and insurance)

    • If you bought it on a 28degree card or Coles mastercard or similar just login to their website and go to price protection and submit a copy of the receipt and the website with the current price and you will get the money back pretty quickly, normally takes less than a week.

  • Looks like if you're getting one try to get the AA02 panel. Out of 3 65" sets in stores 3 of them had horriffic LED bled at the bottom right, make sure you can return it if this happens on your. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=FA01+aa02&oq=FA01+aa02&aq…

  • Price is back up to $2500 in my local stores. Manager said there was way too many oversold (Samsung sending units) that they had to put price back up.
